St. Louis Rams Need Win to Prevent Disaster

The St. Louis Rams (0-1) desperately need a win this Monday night against the New York Giants. If ever there were a must-win Week 2 game for a team in the NFL, this is it for the Rams.

In the NFL, young teams need time to jell. Sadly, the current culture of sports does not always afford teams such a luxury.  For the St. Louis Rams, a 0-2 start would be a nightmare and a reminder of the train wreck seasons of recent years.

This mentality and the rash of injuries suffered in Week 1 to Steven Jackson, Danny Amendola and Sam Bradford put the Rams in a perilous situation.

Take a glance at the upcoming Rams' schedule over the next five games: Ravens, Redskins, at Packers, at Cowboys, Saints.

It's not unrealistic to assume the Rams could go 1-4 in that stretch. Combine that with a loss to the Giants and a 1-6 start is possible.

What's the alternative? WIN...

A win against the Giants might mean momentum and a fresh start to the season for a franchise that desperately needs it. A win on national TV could spark confidence in a team that seems capable of controlling a weak NFC West division.

It's now or never for St. Louis.
