Lions vs. Chiefs: Live Score, Highlights and Analysis

Farzin VousoughianJun 7, 2018

PREGAME

The (1-0) Detroit Lions look to stay competitive early in the NFC North as they host the (0-1) Kansas City Chiefs who hope to bounce back and begin their journey on winning the AFC West for the second consecutive season.

The Lions are a team on the rise as they look to pick up their sixth straight regular season win. The victories date back to last season as the Lions stunned the Packers, the eventual Super Bowl champions, in a low scoring game. The Lions survived 7-3 in that game and have continued the chain of wins.

Like the Lions, the Chiefs have carried over their play from the end of last season to this season. However, it is not a positive carryover for the Chiefs. The Chiefs have been blown out in their last three games, including their postseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens. All three of these games have taken place at Arrowhead Stadium with the Chiefs losing those games by a combined score of 102-24.

After opening up the season with an embarrassing 41-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills, the Chiefs confirmed reports that they have lost safety Eric Berry for the season with a torn ACL.

The biggest question coming into today's game is in regards to Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson, who missed practice this week due to an ankle injury, but is expected to play today.

I'll be back later in the morning with more pregame talk!
Don Criqui and Randy Cross will be calling the game from Ford Field on CBS as we are three hours away from kickoff.

POSTGAME:

Just like last week, the Chiefs let the Lions take control and could not catch up.

The Detroit Lions struggled on their first drive, but managed to finish with a touchdown.

The Kansas City Chiefs are not a good football team. They are playing like the worst team in the NFL.

Following the loss to Buffalo last week, Todd Haley told the media his team was not prepared. It seems like he would be better off saying the same thing this week.

Haley made a bold move by having his team defer after winning the coin toss.

Football fans in Kansas City love their Chiefs, but there is no holding them back firing away with their opinions.

On top of that, Ryan Fitzgerald threw for four touchdown passes last week against the Chiefs. Matt Stafford also threw for the same amount this week.

The Chiefs have lost their first two games of the season on a combined score of 89-10

Final score: Lions 48, Chiefs 3
