NFL Fantasy Football Week 2 Start 'Em Sit 'Em: 3 QBs You Must Sit ASAP

Andrew KulhaSep 18, 2011

If you have one of these quarterbacks I’m about to talk about and want to win your NFL Week 2 fantasy football matchup, you need to make a brash move and sit them.

Being a good fantasy football owner is not always about just starting your star players all the time, and this is certainly the time to start testing that theory out.

Sometimes matchups just don’t favor a quarterback having a good week, while other games may be catered to them scoring tons of points.

There’s no shame in benching a star, especially if you drafted smart and have a capable backup waiting on your bench.

When all else fails remember the old adage: No guts, no glory.

Please do yourself a player and bench these three quarterbacks:

Matt Ryan
, Falcons

Normally I would say that Ryan is a must-start, but not this week against the Eagles. They are playing a prime time Sunday night matchup, and Michael Vick is coming back to the spot where it all started and fell apart. Simply put, the moment is too big, and something is telling me that the Eagles defense is ready to step up and play hard for their quarterback. The Eagles defense is pretty stout on a normal occasion, but I think they will be ferocious during this game.

Matt Cassel, Chiefs

Cassel and the Chiefs are coming off a disastrous home loss to the Bills, so many will be tempted to keep him in based off the “bounce back” theory. The problem is that he is still somewhat banged up, and he has to go to Detroit and play their ridiculously aggressive defensive front. I don’t see that being a pretty combination.

Alex Smith, 49ers

I would never start Alex Smith if I had the choice, but this week I think he’s really going to have a hard time. The Dallas Cowboys defense is going to get after him, especially considering the heartbreaking loss they endured last week. Smith is prone to making big mistakes, and I think the defensive pressure is going to force him into a few.
