Hope Solo: Does U.S. Women's Star Goalkeeper Have Too Much on Her Plate?

United States women's goalkeeper Hope Solo first created waves when she blasted then-coach Greg Ryan in the 2007 World Cup for starting 36-year-old Brianna Scurry over her in the women's 4-0 loss to Brazil in the semifinals.

The tirade instantly put her on the map, and she was sent home by the team before the third-place game.

But in the last year, Solo has not only become more popular in the soccer world, she's becoming a media magnet.

After leading the women to the 2011 World Cup Final against Japan, Solo has appeared on David Letterman, attended the premiere of the final season of HBO's Entourage, landed big-time endorsement deals with Gatorade and Bank of America and is set to appear on the latest season of Dancing with the Stars on Monday.

Not to mention, she's fielding proposals and raps of endearment from strangers.

In short, she's been a busybody.

But with so much on her plate leading up to the U.S. women's next season, will it all become too much of a distraction for Solo?

You have to wonder. Solo has already said "it's been a whirlwind."  And she's already made it clear that everything she does she does 100 percent.

Solo said, via the Huffington Post:

"Everything I do, I do to the best of my ability, and at the end of the day, it's competition. Yeah, it's dancing, and it's not my cup of tea, but I'm very intense and pretty passionate about wanting to do the best I can."

And that is exactly what is worrisome. Being the driven and intense individual Solo is, you would think simply enduring a full soccer season would sap enough of her energy.

But when you have all of these other commitments, let alone the distractions that come with them, it has the potential to wear her down, particularly mentally.

I don't doubt that Solo will bring her all once she steps onto that soccer field.

What I do doubt, however, is that her tank will be full once she does.
