Chuck Lidell-Randy Couture:They Collide For The Fourth Time!
Rumors have been circlulating about an eventual light-heavyweight showdown between Chuck Liddell and UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 95.
Silva is looking to fight at 205 and Chuck Liddell is on a serious downward spiral since his loss to Rampage Jackson, so it seems inevitable that the two men would meet in the octagon.
But as I was mentally preparing for a possible Liddell vs Silva fight soon, I just read on MMANEWS.com that "The Iceman" is actually in negotiations with the UFC to move up in weight and fight as a heavyweight against Randy Couture- June 13th in Cologne, Germany.
If that's not enough, whoever wins this fourth fight between Randy and Chuck will become the No.1 contender for the heavyweight title and challenge the champion at the end of the year.
This is still just a rumor, but it comes from strong sources (or so they say). If Chuck moves up, the fight with Silva will definitely not take place. A fourth fight against Randy would take place, probably their most important bout yet.
It's a fact that whoever loses that fight will probably continue the downward spiral and hit rock bottom soon enough while the other one gets another shot at glory.
The way I see it, I don't know why Chuck would move up in weight instead of Randy moving down. Maybe because Chuck has been doing, well... nothing (other then losing) in the light-heavyweight division and since the heavyweight division needs a little buffing up—that's why Chuck will go there.
I just don't see Chuck Liddell fighting at heavyweight but I'm still interested in another fight between him and Randy, maybe more than against Silva because Chuck and Randy both have so much to lose.
Anyway, like I said previously, this is just a rumor, the negotiations are underway so I wouldn't count out a fight between Anderson and Chuck just now, but it's interesting to know that "Randy vs Chuck IV" could take place in June.
