Fantasy Football Rankings: 4 Quarterbacks Guaranteed to Impress in Week 2

Nicholas GossJun 7, 2018

The NFL is a passing league, and judging by the spectacular Week 1 passing performances highlighted by Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, Panthers rookie Cam Newton and Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne, having a top fantasy quarterback is vital to your team’s success.

Week 1 was a very high-scoring weekend, and with no division games being played in Week 2, there could be even more scoring because many teams are facing opponents they don’t play that often.

With that said, let’s look at four quarterbacks certain to have a big game this week.

1) Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers

Rivers has historically done well against the New England Patriots, who he and the Chargers will play on the road in Week 2.

In a last-second defeat last year, Rivers had 336 yards passing and a touchdown against the Patriots, who have had trouble stopping All-Pro tight end Antonio Gates.

Rivers has plenty of big and talented receivers to use against the Patriots defense, which is a small and inexperienced unit.

Vincent Jackson and Malcom Floyd could both have big games on Sunday, and each will help Rivers to another 300-yard performance.

2) Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens

Joe Flacco dominated the Pittsburgh Steelers defense last week with 224 passing yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Flacco was firing on all cylinders, and was using running back Ray Rice early and often out of the backfield as a receiver.

Against the weak defense of the Tennessee Titans win Week 2, Flacco will again play very well. The Titans have only one good player in the secondary, Cortland Finnegan, and will be overmatched by the weapons of the Ravens.

The Titans defensive line will also have trouble getting to Flacco, which will give him all day to find the open target.

3) Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers is the best fantasy quarterback in football, and has the most weapons of any quarterback at his disposal.

Rodgers tore apart the good New Orleans Saints defense in Week 1, and threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns.

The Packers Week 2 opponent is the Carolina Panthers, who have a terrible defense and allowed over 300 yards passing to Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb in Week 1.

Rodgers will be able to throw all day to receivers Greg Jennings, Donald Driver and Jordy Nelson. Expect tight end Jermichael Finley to have a big day as well, since the Panthers have no one who can cover him.

4) Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers

Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers started the season in the worst way in Week 1 by turning the ball over seven times in a 35-7 loss to the rival Baltimore Ravens.

Roethlisberger will back bounce this week, and against the weak Seattle Seahawks defense he has a great matchup in store.

Mike Wallace played well last week against the Ravens, and Roethlisberger will make him an even bigger part of the game plan against the Seahawks.

Big Ben has too much talent and pride to have two terrible performances to start the season, and against a bad NFC West defense he will bounce back.
