WWE: 6 Possible New Storylines for Christian on SmackDown
Christian has had a long main-event run in the WWE over the past few months, competing in some excellent matches against The Viper, Randy Orton.
Now his last chance has finally been used up and Christian needs a direction to keep him relevant not only on SmackDown, but in the WWE altogether.
I have come up with six possible storylines that Christian could follow after Night of Champions 2011.
Enjoy!
Sheamus
1 of 7Sheamus and Christian have exchanged glares over the past couple of weeks on SmackDown.
That is all they’ve really had chance to do, as Christian has done the smart thing and walked away from the situation both times.
A feud could be brewing here.
After Night of Champions 2011, this is just one direction Christian could go in.
He could help Sheamus get over even more as a face and I think the two could have great matches and a fantastic feud together.
Sheamus is on a roll lately so he would have to go over.
Mark Henry
2 of 7If Mark Henry wins this Sunday at Night of Champions 2011, that would give Christian a solid reason to feud with the World’s Strongest Man.
He could get his desired shot at the World Heavyweight Championship and if Randy cashes in his rematch clause, we could have a triple threat match on our hands at Hell in a Cell.
The size difference could make for an entertaining bout between the two or it could be a bigger flop than the XFL.
Randy Orton
3 of 7He could feud with Randy Orton, but that really would be scraping barrel.
I for one am really sick of seeing these two square off now.
The novelty has worn off, though the only thing we haven’t seen them do is compete in Hell in a Cell.
This feud depends on who is the World Heavyweight Champion after Sunday’s PPV.
It’s an option, but it’s about time Christian moved on.
Cody Rhodes
4 of 7Forget the World Heavyweight Championship for now—it is otherwise occupied.
Cody Rhodes may have a short feud with Ted DiBiase but I can’t see the man furthering his career more than it is now.
Therefore, Cody Rhodes needs a decent opponent to keep his promise of bringing prestige back to the Intercontinental Championship. Christian could easily be that opponent.
Before he resumes his chase of the World Heavyweight Championship, let’s see him win a few matches as the Intercontinental Championship.
It is not uncommon for a main-event superstar to win a secondary title and it would not be detrimental to his character. If anything, it would have the opposite effect.
Move to Raw
5 of 7It could be argued that Christian has now exhausted all his options on SmackDown.
To move him officially to the Raw roster could give him a chance at a bit of a fresh start and he could moan over the WWE Championship instead of the World Heavyweight Championship.
A feud with Kevin Nash maybe? Who knows? Worked for CM Punk...
Tag Team
6 of 7Christian was part of arguably the best tag team ever to grace a WWE ring: Edge & Christian.
He knows how to function in a successful tag team.
If WWE creative found him a decent partner from Raw or SmackDown, he could take part in the tag team revival.
Awesome Truth and AirBoom have kicked off a revolution that the Usos couldn’t dream of doing (I used to have faith, but no more!).
Could the Christian Coalition be around the corner to add a third team to the mix?
Triple Ladder match at WrestleMania!
Sorry, I got a little carried away there.
What's Next for Christian
7 of 7So there you have it, six possible storylines for Captain Charisma.
Some are more likely than others, but I feel all are viable options. Maybe some will come to fruition, only time will tell.
What do you think is in store for Christian?
