Boise State Football: 3 Reasons Why the Broncos Should Be on Upset Watch Tonight
In about an hour, the Boise State Broncos will enter battle with the Toledo Rockets at the Glass Bowl. While No. 4 BSU is heavily favored, they should be very careful about looking past this game.
Here's a quick look at three reasons why they need to watch out for the upset tonight.
Ohio State Factor
Last week, Toledo just narrowly missed out on a huge road upset against No. 15 Ohio State. They were in the redzone with a chance to take the lead late in that game, but couldn't quite push it in for the touchdown.
Usually when a small school gets a shot at a ranked opponent, it's once chance and done. If they don't take advantage, they don't get the glory.
For Toledo, it's different. They will get one more shot at being Cinderella for a week, and they are going to be hungry for an upset after last week's disappointment.
But this time, it's at home, and this time, it's on national TV. The Broncos better be careful.
Eric Page
Page might just be the best receiver you've never heard of.
During his freshman season, all he did was pull in 82 catches for 1,159 yards. Last year, he improved that to 99 receptions for 1,105 yards.
He appears to be on track again this year, as he has 17 catches for 205 yards after just two games.
The Buckeyes know all too well how explosive Page can be, as he ripped off 12 catches for 145 yards and two scores on Saturday.
BSU needs to contain this speedster, or he will make them pay.
Road Game
They did look great at Georgia in Week 1, but BSU still needs to be careful.
Since 1999, in regular season games, the Broncos have only lost one game at home but they have lost 16 games on the road.
They aren't very vulnerable, but they are certainly more vulnerable on the road.
The fans in Toledo will be ready for this nationally televised game, and it will be a hasty environment.
