Arsenal vs. Blackburn: Gunners Will Use Blackburn To Turn Corner on EPL Season

Matt FaulconerSep 16, 2011

It is no secret that Arsenal's season has not exactly gone according to plan thus far.

The Gunners enter this weekend's matchup with the Blackburn Rovers with a 1-2-1 record, which includes an 8-2 loss against defending league champions Manchester United.

This matchup with the Rovers couldn't have come at a better time.

The Rovers are 0-3-1 so far this season, and have been far from impressive. They sit at the bottom of the EPL table and are a prime candidate to pick up three points against.

It's not going to be easy, as going to Ewood Park could cause a bit of problems for Arsenal, but don't expect too much resistance from Blackburn.

If there is any club in England that has been surrounded by more drama than Arsenal in the past month it is Blackburn. According to Fox News, fans of the club are planning a protest of approximately 1,000 fans in hopes of having manager Steve Kean fired.

At least those Arsenal fans are calling for Arsene Wenger's head from their living rooms.

The Gunners are looking to turn the corner on what has been a disappointing season so far, and they started that process with a 1-1 draw in Germany against Borussia Dortmund to open their Champions League campaign.

The Gunners obviously would have preferred a victory, but gaining a road point is essential to a team who is suffering from injuries all over the pitch.

This same team will hit the pitch at Ewood Park against Blackburn and should be able to come away with a victory. Look for Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott to carry the load for Arsenal in this match, and lead the team to a much-needed victory.
