Arian Foster Practiced and Will Be Available Sunday, but for How Long?

Job TennantJun 1, 2018

Arian Foster gave Houston Texans fans a lot to be excited about today simply by showing up to practice.  The most explosive running back in the league will be playing for the first time this season after being held out because of a troublesome hamstring that was filled with "anti-awesomeness."

Foster will play against the Dolphins on Sunday, but Ben Tate will be splitting carries with him.  How exactly the carries are split is still up for debate.  However, it should be expected that Foster will start.

Kubiak hasn't shown much of a desire to rest his young back rushing him for more than twenty attempts in five of the last seven games, despite having a torn meniscus.  It should not shock anyone if Foster sees a heavy work load in his first game back.

It may be more prudent, though, to take Foster slowly against the Dolphins.  Not only do the Texans have to worry about Foster re-injuring the hamstring, but they must also take into consideration the fact that the turf in Miami is sometimes subpar because of the baseball/football arrangement of the field and the fact that Miami's defense was just shredded by Tom Brady for over 500 yards and four touchdowns.

This will be a statement game for the Dolphins defense, and the Texans should expect them to come out firing on all cylinders and looking to deliver some serious blows.  Personally, I don't want Foster taking those blows if he isn't 110 percent.
