Cowboys vs. 49ers Injury Report: 5 Players Who Are Hurting
The Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers match up this week in an attempt to rekindle one of the best rivalries in the NFL.
Unfortunately, some fan favorites will be missing this game.
The 49ers only have a few players listed on the injury report, while the Cowboys might be left hoping they are able to replace their starters for a tough road game.
The Cowboys are three-point favorites on the road this week against the 49ers, and they hope that injuries will not affect their ability to win.
Find out which players are hurting this week in the rest of the article.
Terence Newman
1 of 5The Dallas Cowboys have ruled out Terence Newman for the second consecutive week, and it could really hurt the team come Sunday.
The team is already missing cornerback Orlando Scandrick, and the San Francisco 49ers have some physical receiving targets that can take advantage of an injured secondary. Vernon Davis, Delanie Walker and Braylon Edwards can each be able to beat smaller, inexperienced corners.
With Newman sidelined, Alex Smith will have the chance to have a solid game through the air.
Michael Crabtree
2 of 5Michael Crabtree was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list shortly before the first game of the season. Against the Seattle Seahawks he played but caught only one pass for four yards.
He will most likely play through the pain on Sunday, but he has been a limited participant in practice this week. It will be a few weeks before Crabtree is able to play at full strength since having surgery on his foot.
With the passing game as weak as it is, the San Francisco 49ers need him to return to his old self as soon as possible
Bill Nagy
3 of 5Starting left guard Bill Nagy did not practice on Thursday after being a limited participant on Wednesday. The rookie hurt his neck in last week’s game, and it could hurt the Dallas Cowboys’ offense if he is not able to play.
The Cowboys did not perform well in the run game against the New York Jets on Sunday night. While the Jets do have a solid defense, they need to do better than the 2.5 yards per carry that they averaged.
If Nagy is not able to go, look for veteran Derrick Dockery to take over the starting spot. He should be able to fill in admirably for the seventh-round pick.
Dashon Goldson
4 of 5Dashon Goldson has not yet recovered from his knee injury, and it looks as though he might be on his way to missing his second game of this young season.
He was listed as a limited participant in practice over the last two days. While he was able to warm up, he did not participate in many drills.
While Madieu Williams is solid veteran who provides great depth at safety, the San Francisco 49ers can use the upgrade that Goldson provides.
Dez Bryant
5 of 5While many are speculating that Dez Bryant will suit up for the Dallas Cowboys next week, his bruised quad has him still listed as questionable in the injury report.
Bryant has not been a participant in practice this week, and it is unlikely the Cowboys will rush him back to game speed without being on the practice field.
The second-year player seems poised to have a breakout season. Bryant looked good on Sunday night, catching 71 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Football fans do not want to see a talent like this slowed by injury.
