Texans vs Dolphins: TV Info, Over/Under, Spread and Final Game Predictions

Michael DixonSep 18, 2011

The 1-0 Houston Texans travel to Florida to take on the 0-1 Miami Dolphins. The Texans and Dolphins faced two of the AFC's top franchises in Week 1, but got much different results.

Houston hosted the Colts, who were playing without Peyton Manning for the first time since 1998. They earned a 34-7 win.

The Dolphins hosted the Patriots, who had their Hall of Fame quarterback in Tom Brady. Brady threw for more than 500 yards as the Dolphins lost 38-24 on Monday night.

Over/Under

If both teams match their Week 1 outputs, the Over/Under of 48 is considerably too low.

Miami's defense is good, but New England ran all over it on Monday night. The Texans have the offense to score a lot of points against Miami.

Chad Henne will lead the Dolphins offense to a decent point total.

Take the over here.

Spread

Texans by three. This doesn't seem like much of an issue. Andre Johnson will have a big performance in this one. Three points is pretty manageable.

Road favorites are normally teams to avoid, but it's hard to see Miami staying with Houston's firepower.

Key Injuries

Texans running back Arian Foster (hamstring) is probable.

Texans running back Ben Tate (quad) is probable.

Texans wide receiver Kevin Walter (collarbone) and running back Derrick Ward (ankle/shoulder) are questionable.

Dolphins linebacker Jason Taylor (leg), safety Chris Clemons (leg), and defensive end Tony McDaniel (hand) are questionable.

Dolphins' running back Daniel Thomas (hamstring) and Charles Clay (hamstring) are probable.

Fantasy Big Plays

Keep Arian Foster on the bench if you have any depth at RB. The Texans need to ease him back into action. They have plenty of offensive depth to get by.

Consider starting Chad Henne. He's not a bad sleeper quarterback and the Texans defense still has question marks.

Reggie Bush is another player who wouldn't be a bad start. The Dolphins used him a lot on Monday night. He's the primary back and also valuable as a pass catcher.

Keys to Texans Win

Offensively, the Texans should be fine. Defensively, they just need to limit Miami. That shouldn't be a huge problem, but the Dolphins offense was impressive at times against New England.

Keys to Dolphins Win

They need to contain Andre Johnson. Miami can't let Matt Schaub do similar things that Tom Brady did.

Prediction

The Texans attack will be too strong here. Miami has a good defense, but it's starting the season with two tough opponents.

Texans: 35

Dolphins: 24
