Michael Vick Is "Just a Visitor" in the Georgia Dome Against the Atlanta Falcons

Mike HodgesJun 7, 2018

As Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles prepare to face the Atlanta Falcons this weekend, playing at the Georgia Dome will feel like a familiar place for the Eagles quarterback.

This Sunday will mark the second time that Vick will travel to Atlanta, however this time, he will be leading the offense as the starting QB.

And while he remembers fondly his early days playing for the Falcons, Vick said he won't be returning with the spotlight shining on him.

"That's not my house," Vick told ESPN.com. "That's Matt Ryan's house. I'm just a visitor."

It's hard to believe Vick's humble demeanor towards Ryan in taking over starting quarterback duties in Atlanta, considering how much of an impact Vick had on the franchise throughout the six seasons he played there.

Vick's presence was hard to ignore on and off of the field as his athletic ability and impressive performances made him a household name, but a troubled personal life led to multiple fines, media scrutiny and ultimately, Vick being a polarizing figure.

His relationship in Atlanta could be described as a love/hate relationship, at best.

However those days are firmly behind him and Vick has now become the undisputed No. 1 starter in Philadelphia, where he has received as much support from fans as if he were a hometown hero. He doesn't ponder his past in Atlanta or guess what could've been; Vick has moved on in his career.

"It may cross my mind every once in a while, but I'm so thankful to be in Philly right now," he said.

"Maybe it was meant for me to be here. I couldn't have landed in a better city, a better place. This is my home, this is where I want to be. I'm just thankful for that."

And to some fans, he might still be a public enemy in Atlanta, but Vick's lasting impression on fans will still be heard by those in attendance this Sunday whether they cheer or boo him.
