Chelsea FC News: Is End Drawing Near for Fernando Torres in England?

Matt FaulconerSep 15, 2011

It's not likely that many saw this coming just after the transfer window closed.

It appears that the end of the road may be coming for Fernando Torres in the English Premier League. According to The Daily Mail, reports out of Italy have Torres on his way to AC Milan in January in what would be a monumental swap.

"

Chelsea could offload Fernando Torres to AC Milan in a stunning swap deal with Robinho or Alexandre Pato, according to reports in Italy.

Torres has scored just once since signing from Liverpool for £50million in January and is struggling to adapt to life at Stamford Bridge.

Milan missed out on Torres when he left Atletico Madrid for Liverpool in 2007 but are long-term admirers and are ready to offer one-time Chelsea target and Manchester City flop Robinho in exchange.

It is without a doubt an undeniable fact that Torres has struggled since arriving at Stamford Bridge. He did have a decent performance in the Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen, as he set up both goals.

However, his goal-scoring ability appears to be non-existent and he is going to need to pick it up or he will find himself being shipped out of town.

However, it is highly unlikely that the Blues will make a move for Robinho, who didn't live up to expectations during his last time in the EPL with Manchester City.

Pato, on the other hand, is likely high on Chelsea's wish list. He is just 22 years of age and has already registered 50 goals in 103 appearances for AC Milan.

It will be interesting to see if these two sides can come to an agreement in the coming months. Either way, at this point, it looks as if Torres' days are numbered at Stamford Bridge.
