Reid, McNabb: Head For The Hills

G DNov 23, 2008

Let me begin by saying that I've been an Eagles fan since I was 12 years old, and never have I've been more disappointed, disgusted, and angry with a team's performance in my life than after watching the Eagles today.

If you haven't already heard, the Philadelphia Eagles were absolutely blown away by the Baltimore Ravens today by a 29-point deficit.

The Eagles managed just a hair over 200 total yards for the entire game, and the fault should lay completely in the hands of Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb.

In the last three outings, McNabb has accounted for a completion percentage of 47 percent and six interceptions, while only throwing four interceptions in the previous eight game.

Never in my life have I been so sick to my stomach after watching a performance such as today's. My thoughts are sorrows go out to Eagles fan across the nation. Not only did McNabb toss two interceptions today, he lost a fumble, was sacked twice, and over threw and under threw receivers on a constant basis the entire game!

So, you might have the argument that McNabb has been more than a blessing to the Eagles franchise over the past 10 years.

Wrong. Other than making one Super Bowl appearance, in which we lost, what has he done for us? In the NFL, it's not about the past, its what have you done for me lately, and to answer that question, Donovan, you haven't done anything!

Not only did you make a complete laughingstock out of yourself last week, stating you didn't know a game could end in a tie, but that fact that the team you tied with consisted of the one and only 1-9-1 Cincinnati Bengals, who remain dead last in the AFC North...Unacceptable.

To see you get benched today and roam the sidelines all by yourself made me realize how much of a disappointment you are to Eagles and the entire National Football League.

Now for Andy Reid who for the second straight year will fail to make the playoffs. Coming off a very disappointing 8-8 season, you thought Andy Reid might change his ways...Nope! Not a chance.

Right now, the Eagles hold a 5-5-1 record and are holding down 4th place in their division. I know the NFC East can be considered the toughest in the whole NFL, but enough with the excuses. I am fed up with McNabb, and I am fed up with Andy Reid

So often this year, I have watched my Eagles lose games due to poor play calling and today was no different. On several occasions today, I watched Andy Reid send in a play on 3rd-and-1. Pass...Pass...and Pass. Do we not have the biggest line in the entire NFL, can we not gain one yard on a running-back dive or a QB sneak?

No, instead, Reid decides to shock the world once again and throw it deep. Reid- you might think your surprising the defense by throwing on 3rd-and-1, but they aren't fooled at all. They've caught on to your foolish play calling.

If I was the Ravens' Defensive Coordinator, facing the Eagles on 3rd-and-1, I would call for a prevention defense, take everyone out of the box, and put five men in the secondary.

Despite trailing 22-7 at one point, the Eagles were certainly not out of it. In fact, the Eagles had their best drive of the game (with McNabb watching from the sidelines), and held the ball within the one-yard line.

On 2nd-and-goal from the half-yard line, Reid calls for a pass. Once again, I cannot believe it. The pass is intercepted by Ed Reed and returned 108 yards for the game clinching touchdown. Absolutely unreal. Once again, the Ravens recognized Reid's stupidity and knew they would not run the ball.

After losing three games in a row and more than likely missing out on the playoffs for the second year in a row, I make the case that McNabb and Reid must go immediately.
