Calvin Johnson Injury: Detroit Lions Can't Afford To Lose Top WR
Calvin Johnson, the Detroit Lions' biggest playmaker, missed his second day of practice with an ankle injury, which is not good news for a team hit hard with injuries year after year.
According to Lions beat writer Chris McCosky, Johnson was a no-show today and if he doesn't practice on Friday, all signs would point to him being out for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Johnson rolled his ankle in the Lions' win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday, and at first it didn't appear to be serious.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Now that he has missed two days of practice, it is something to pay attention to.
Detroit has been hit with many injuries over the years that have torn their team apart. This entire offseason, everyone was claiming that the Lions could be a surprise team, but they would have to stay healthy.
That's been a problem for Detroit for years now, and if Johnson is out on Sunday, it will only put this team down in the dumps.
Despite getting blown out by the Buffalo Bills, the Chiefs are not a terrible team. Their secondary took a big hit with the loss of safety Eric Berry, but they're still going to be competitive because of their skill players on offense.
Having Johnson on Sunday would be a huge leg up for Detroit, but if he is out, the Lions will have to adjust and find creative ways to get the ball down the field.
Johnson is a huge asset to the Lions and if this team is going to make some noise in the tough NFC North, they need him to be healthy all season long.
The Lions shouldn't rush Johnson, which it's clear they aren't, because he has been out of practice for two days in a row now. I think he'll play on Sunday, but you never know with these things until game day comes around.
Detroit needs to win every non-division game they possibly can in their quest for a Wild Card playoff spot. Yes, the Lions are getting better, but they're not going to get past the Green Bay Packers in the NFC North.
In the end, the Lions will play it smart and do what is best for Johnson. Stay tuned to see if he is on the practice field on Friday. If he is, you can expect him to play.
