NFL Picks Week 2: Which Teams Will Be NFL's Worst 2-0 Squads?

John RozumJun 7, 2018

Every season in pro football there's the contenders and pretenders.

The sneaky thing about the pretenders though, is that some are just better than they're given credit for.

That being said, there will be some teams this week who start out 2-0, but no one is expecting them to contend as the season progresses.

So who will start out 2-0 but aren't yet good enough to be considered elite?

Let's start out in the NFC.

Washington Redskins

Of the three teams that will be mentioned in this piece, the Redskins are the best, as they are better than they're given credit for, but not good enough to really be considered a contender.

They upset the New York Giants at home in Week 1 28-14, and now play host to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2, a team that allowed rookie QB Cam Newton to toss for over 400 yards in his debut.

The Cardinals are also in arguably the NFL's weakest division.

So yes, Washington starts out 2-0, but until they best a team like Philadelphia or Dallas, they will be looked down upon.

Buffalo Bills

In Week 1, Buffalo shocked a lot of critics with a 41-7 smashing of the Kansas City Chiefs, and now face another AFC West opponent in the Oakland Raiders at home.

The Raiders are coming off a 23-20 win over Denver on the road, so this won't be an easy game for the Bills, but lest we forget, the Raiders finished 2-8 outside of their own division in 2010.

Make no mistake about it, Buffalo is definitely getting better. However, unless they pull victories over the Pats and Jets in the AFC East this season, the Bills remain a pretender.

Cincinnati Bengals

This week the Bengals travel to The Mile High City and face the Denver Broncos.

Both are teams that have improved this offseason, but still have a lot of work to do if they want to move up the food chain within their own division.

As for Cincy, they beat the Cleveland Browns on the road in Week 1 and the Broncos fell to the Oakland Raiders.

The game is a barn-burner, but the Bengals win in the end and are 2-0 heading into Week 3.

Yet, they're the worst of all 2-0 franchises as they've only defeated two of the worst teams in all of pro football.

However, it's at least a confidence booster for when they play Baltimore and Pittsburgh.
