New York Has Tennessee Saying Remember The Jets, Gang Green Wins 34-13

Sergei MiledinNov 23, 2008

Titans head coach Jeff Fisher should have spent less time sky diving on to the practice field and more time studying tape of his opposition, as the New York Jets snapped his perfect season with a 34-13 win.

The Titans started the game with a three-and-out and snapped the Jets nine game coin toss win streak in the process. Favre would lead the Jets to their fifth straight opening drive score after connecting with three different receivers, including a 21-yard pass to Laveranues Coles.

He would eventually find Thomas Jones, who had just four yards on the ground, for a 10 yard score, putting them up 7-0 with the Feely extra point.

The Titans went three-and-out on three of their first five drives and had only 55 yards of offense until a Rob Bironas 43-yard FG, but by the time they got on the scoreboard the Jets had already added one of their own making the score 10-3 with under a minute left in the half.

Prior to the Titans score Favre would throw his 13th interception that led to nothing as the undefeated team looked dazed and confused on offense.

The Jets would take the 10-3 lead into the half with all the momentum that would carry onto the third quarter. Favre and Jones would bring the Jets down the field and settle for a Feely 30-yard FG making the score 17-3.

The Titans would fumble the ball on the following drive, allowing the Jets to recover and add to their lead. Favre would find Coles in the endzone to give the Jets a commanding 20-3 late in the quarter. It would be Favre's 20th TD pass of the season passing Dan Marino for most consecutive 20 TD seasons with 14.

Tennessee would respond with another FG courtesy of Bironas for 49 yards making the score 20-6 in the early going of the fourth quarter.  The Jets would not let up as Leon Washington got into the act with a 61-yard TD run making the score 27-6 with 11 minutes left. Kerry Collins would finally get his team into the end zone after leading them down the field in a quick 1:19 eventually finding Amhard Hall to cut the lead 27-13.

Gang Green would not sit back and refused any chance of a comeback in their following possession. Runs by Jones and Washington along with two pass interference calls against the Titans including a 24-yarder allowed the Jets to dim the lights on the Titans perfect season with a Washington four-yard TD.

The win would help Favre pass Marino again, this time for victories in the most NFL stadiums by winning in his 32nd. Favre finished with 224 yards, two TDs and one interception. The Jets now look to hosting the Denver Broncos, who are 6-5 following a blowout loss to the Oakland Raiders

The Good:No question here, ending the Titans perfect season is huge as very few people believed the Jets would win again this week. Tennessee hadn't lost since Dec. 16, 2007.

The Bad:The quick Titans score would be something to look at by the coaching staff in preparation for Jay Cutler and the Broncos.

The Ugly:Nothing doing this week, a near perfect game by the men in green.

Game ball:Leon Washington gets this week's honor. 84 total yards isn't much but the two TD's were essential in this pivotal game.
