NFL Power Rankings: Last-Minute Week 2 Rankings
Week 1 of the NFL season was filled with surprises and dominant performances, causing the power rankings of many to be thrown into disarray. The Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles remain constants at the top, but teams like the Houston Texans and Detroit Lions are quickly moving up.
Other usually dominant squads like the Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons took it on the chin, however, and will be out for blood in Week 2. Here are my finals power rankings prior to Week 2's games, which are sure to jumble them even more.
1. Green Bay Packers

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense put on a clinic against the Saints last week. Look for that to continue in Week 2 against the Panthers.
2. New England Patriots
The Patriots were unstoppable on offense last week as Tom Brady found Wes Welker with great regularity. New England faces a stiff test from the Chargers this week, but should be up to the task.
3. Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles lived up to all the preseason hype by dominating the Rams in their place. Michael Vick returns to Atlanta this week for what should be the week's premier game.
4. Baltimore Ravens
Always a bridesmaid behind the Steelers, the Ravens proved they may be ready to take control of the AFC North last week. They'll face an overmatched Titans squad this week.
5. New York Jets
Although they trailed for most of the contest, the Jets staged a furious comeback to beat Dallas last week. Things should go a little more smoothly in Week 2 against Jacksonville.
6. Houston Texans
The Texans have played second fiddle to the Colts since their inception, but they asserted their dominance last week and look like the toast of the division. They'll get Miami this week.
7. New Orleans Saints
The Saints lost a tough one to the Packers last week, but Drew Brees and the offense fired on all cylinders. Brees will try to do the same against a stiff Bears defense this week.
8. San Diego Chargers
The Chargers avoided their customary slow start by beating the Vikings last week. San Diego will have to play its best game in order to beat New England in Week 2.
9. Chicago Bears
The underappreciated Bears shut down Matt Ryan and the Falcons last week. They'll face another explosive offense in Drew Brees' Saints on Sunday.
10. Detroit Lions
The Lions cemented their sleeper status by beating the Bucs last week. Matthew Stafford and the offense could put on an aerial assault against the Chiefs this week.
11. Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons stumbled out of the gates against the Bears. A Week 2 games against the Eagles is important because a loss would start the defending NFC South champions off 0-2.
12. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers were simply outclassed by Baltimore in Week 1. Pittsburgh will be out for revenge against the unlucky Seahawks on Sunday.
13. Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals established themselves as the NFC West favorites by outlasting the Panthers last week. They'll take on the surprising Redskins in Week 2.
14. Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys let a potentially big win slip away against the Jets on Sunday night. With the 49ers next on tap, Tony Romo and the Cowboys will be looking for redemption.
15. Buffalo Bills
The Bills shocked the NFL world by blowing out the defending AFC West champion Chiefs by 34. A win over the Raiders would make them early contenders at 2-0.
16. St. Louis Rams
Despite plenty of love from prognosticators entering the year, the Rams were lambasted by Philadelphia in Week 1. They'll try to take advantage of the banged-up Giants on Monday night.
17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The youthful Buccaneers were beaten by a different set of young bucks in the Lions last week. They have an interesting meeting with the Vikings Sunday.
18. Oakland Raiders
Darren McFadden and the Raiders ran roughshod over the Broncos defense in Week 1 and will have to do the same against Buffalo in Week 2 to improve to 2-0
19. Washington Redskins
Rex Grossman and the 'Skins took advantage of the injury-plagued Giants defense last week and will face another questionable defense in Arizona on Sunday.
20. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jags started the post-David Garrard era with a win over the Titans, but a victory will be much tougher to come by against the Jets in Week 2.
21. San Francisco 49ers
The Niners made a close game against Seattle a blowout with two late return scores by Ted Ginn. They'll face an angry Dallas team on Sunday.
22. New York Giants
The Giants succumbed to their injury issues in a loss to Washington last week. A win will be vital against St. Louis on Monday night.
23. Indianapolis Colts
The Colts looked completely lost without Peyton Manning last week. They'll need to rally the troops for a pivotal game against Cleveland this week.
24. Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings led the Chargers for the majority of last week's game, but came up just short. They'll host the talented Bucs in Week 2.
25. Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals shocked the rival Browns in Week 1, but are still a very flawed team. Despite that, they have a good chance to improve to 2-0 against Denver.
26. Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins hung tough against New England Monday night, but the Pats offense was simply too much. Things won't get much easier against Andre Johnson and the Texans.
27. Carolina Panthers
Cam Newton shocked the football world with a 400-yard passing game in his debut. The Panthers came up short against Arizona, though, and will do the same against Green Bay this week.
28. Tennessee Titans
The Titans got away from Chris Johnson and the running game and paid the price last week. No matter what they do this week, the Ravens will likely make them pay the price again.
29. Denver Broncos
A Week 1 loss to Oakland has prompted fans to call for Tim Tebow to starter. Kyle Orton will remain the starter, however, when Denver faces Cincinnati on Sunday.
30. Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs look like a shell of last year's team after being blown out by Buffalo at home. The Chiefs will have another difficult game against the up-and-coming Lions.
31. Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks hung tough against the Niners last week, but their special teams failed them. There is a high probability of a blowout at the hands of Pittsburgh this week.
32. Cleveland Browns
The Browns couldn't beat a Bengals team considered to be among the league's worst last week. Cleveland will look for its first win against the scuffling Colts on Sunday.
