Week 2 Fantasy Football Rankings: Ranking the Top 3 Fantasy RBs for Week 2

Michael MillJun 7, 2018

There is no question that the running back is the single most important position on any fantasy football team.

Every week, running backs typically generate the most points for fantasy owners. Running back is also one of the most limited positions, making it difficult to get top tier players.

For those of you who did get the big name players, here is an outlook on week two.

Here are rankings for the top three fantasy running backs for week two of the 2011 NFL season.

3. Cedric Benson (Cincinnati Bengals)

Cedric Benson got off to a great start for the 2011 season.

The Bengals ran a run heavy offense which gave the ball to Benson 25 times over the course of their week one game against the Cleveland Browns. He rushed for a total of 121 yards and a touchdown.

His total yardage puts him third in the league after one week of play.

After week two he may find himself even closer to the top of the boards. The Cincinnati Bengals face off against the Denver Broncos, who struggled with stopping the run in week one.

The Broncos allowed Darren McFadden to rush for 150 yards on Monday night. They also were one of the worst teams when it came to stopping the run last season.

Could be a good sign for Benson and a bad sign for Broncos fans.

2. Ray Rice (Baltimore Ravens)

Last week, Ray Rice faced one of the most prestigious defenses in the NFL in terms of stopping the run.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are known for their smash mouth style of football and superior run defense. Most running backs fear James Harrison, James Farrior and Lamarr Woodley.

Ray Rice just laughed at them. Rice finished the game with 107 rushing yards and a touchdown along with another 40 receiving yards and another touchdown.

Rice did this against one of the most feared defenses in the league. This week the Ravens face the Tennessee Titans. Rice should have no problem putting up another 100 yard performance.

3. Michael Turner (Atlanta Falcons)

Michael Turner currently has the second best rushing average of all running backs in the league. Turner only received ten handoffs in week one, but finished with 100 total rushing yards.

The only running back with a better average is Steven Jackson. Jackson ran the ball twice against the Philadelphia Eagles for 56 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game with an injury.

Why does this matter? Because it's that weak Eagles rushing defense that Turner will face in Week 2.

There is no question that Turner will receive many more carries this week. With the weak linebacker corps that Philadelphia possesses, I wouldn't be surprised if Turner finds a way to surpass 200 yards on the ground this weekend.
