Washington vs. Nebraska: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time and More

Eric BowmanSep 14, 2011

Having met two times in 2010 with two completely different outcomes, the No. 11 Nebraska Cornhuskers will host the Washington Huskies.

Washington no longer has Jake Locker, which would lead you to believe this won't be a contest for Nebraska. However, this team knows how to score, and head coach Steve Sarkisian will have the Huskies well prepared.

Nebraska destroyed Washington in the regular season in 2010, but the Huskies got the last laugh with a bowl victory to finish the season.

The Cornhuskers need to make a statement this weekend because if they don't, many will wonder if they're capable of hanging with the Big Ten. With that, let's dig into some specifics of this intense rematch.

Where: Memorial Stadium, Lincoln NE

When: Saturday, Sept. 17 3:30 PM ET

Watch: ABC/ESPN/ESPN3

Listen: KJR 950 AM in Seattle, KLIN 1400 AM in Lincoln

Betting Line

According to bodog.com, the Cornhuskers are favored at -17. The game may not be that big of a blow out, but this is a game Nebraska should take care of easily, especially since it's a home game.

Nebraska Injury Report

Cornerback Alfonzo Dennard missed the first two games with a pulled leg muscle, and is expected to practice this week. However, head coach Bo Pelini would not reveal if Dennard would play on Saturday.

Washington Injury Report

Starting free safety Nate Fellner suffered a hamstring injury in Week 2, and coach Sarkisian has yet to specify if Fellner will be up to 100 percent in time for Saturday's game.

BCS/Top 25 Poll Implications

The Cornhuskers will boost their chances of cracking the top 10 again with an impressive victory over the Huskies. Washington isn't getting looked at by the voters, but an upset over Nebraska and folks will start paying closer attention to the Huskies.

What They're Saying

Nebraska lineman Jeremiah Sirles was asked about the Cornhuskers most recent loss to Washington and whether or not that had an impact in their preparation for the game. Per ESPN:

"

I've never been a big guy into revenge or anything like that, offensive lineman Jeremiah Sirles said Monday, but I think we have a chip on our shoulders as a team. It's something that has sat in the back of our heads since last December, how we finished the season.

"

The Cornhuskers want this win so badly they can taste it. They were supposed to win last year, but the Huskies upset them in the Holiday Bowl.

Huskies head coach Steve Sarkisian told FOXSports that playing Nebraska again has its pros and cons.

"

The pluses are that you have a little familiarity with their personnel. The minuses are that they have familiarity with your personnel. I don't think either team is going to make drastic changes schematically. We are who we are, they are who they are. Ultimately I think both staffs are well-coached and they'll have wrinkles here and there to take advantage of those things.

"

He knows what Pelini likes to do, but unfortunately with new players in his system, they don't have as many advantages as they would like.

Nebraska Player to Watch

Senior defensive tackle Jared Crick is drawing comparisons to former teammate Ndamukong Suh, and his team needs him to step up big in this game to not only stop the run but also get after the quarterback on some plays.

Washington Player to Watch

Sophomore quarterback Keith Price has started the season with seven touchdowns, which is tied for the most in the NCAA. Now he'll get his first test a tough defense, and boy will it be challenging. Price will find it very difficult to move the ball on this talented Cornhuskers defense.

Key Matchup

The Huskies offensive line vs. Cornhuskers defensive line is what all eyes will be on. Nebraska let Washington run all over them the last two times they played, and in Week 2 the Cornhuskers allowed 190-rushing yards to Fresno State. Moving the ball down the field and controlling the clock is the best way for Washington to succeed in this game.

Key Storyline

Will the Huskies find a way to upset the Cornhuskers again? This time it's a home game for Nebraska, which will help a lot. The Huskies know how to move the ball down the field, and they know a good deal about Nebraska's defensive schemes, which will make this an interesting game.

Prediction

Without Jake Locker, the Huskies will struggle, unless the ground-and-pound is in full force. The Cornhuskers want revenge from the Holliday Bowl lost, and they're going to get it here. Home-field advantage plays a huge role in this win because the inexperienced Huskies will have a difficult time handling the crowd.

Nebraska wins 38-24
