Portland Blazers Game 14: Shaq O'Neil Is a BUFFOON Part Two

Bleacher ReportNov 22, 2008

Okay, I forgive Shaq for EVERYTHING he has EVER done to the Portland Trail Blazers.

I rooted for him last year when he joined Phoenix, and I like watching him go after the rebound, attack the basket, complain about flagrant foul calls, talk trash on other teams, and pout when his team loses.

Yet he is still, and has always been, a BUFFOON.

Now, that is hardly being mean to the man with more nick names than a calculator can add up...the guy goes out of his way to be GOOFY.

He made SHAZAM for crying out loud!

The man IS a BUFFOON.

That said, The Phoenix Suns are similar to The Fantastic Four's Johnny Storm, in that they can "FLAME ON" whenever necessary.

The Suns, coming off a pretty disturbing loss to LA, came out to show us that there would be no upset by our young upstarts (and you know we thought we could do it...).

Unlike Yao Ming, Greg Oden and Shaq share the same weapon...the MONSTER JAM.

The monster jam is UNDEFENDABLE.

Tonight, they went at it...and though the wily BUFFOON veteran got the best of Greg in the win column, Greg did everything right in his first show down with THE BUFFOON.

Despite the loss...I noticed something really awesome in your young guys...we NEVER GAVE UP.  We battled back when all hope seemed lost, time and time again!  We keep that up against every team, we're going to win A LOT of games this year.

And besides, in the end it was NOT SHAQ (the BUFFOON) who defeated us...but rather the BRILLIANT Steve Nash and his team's long distance shooting.

After the game Jerome Kersey came into my work, and we spoke briefly.  I told him that I had been at Game Five v. Utah in 1992, the double over time thriller.

I told him, "I know you were there too..." and he laughed.

I asked him what he thought of the game and he said, "Well, young team, coming off the road, back to back..."

To which I replied, "Sir, you guys are doing everything right."

And we are!
