Ted Bruschi to Chad Ochocinco: Stop Tweeting, Get in Playbook

Sean FraserJun 7, 2018

On the first Monday night game of the season, New England QB Tom Brady lit up the Miami secondary for 517 yards and four touchdowns, setting the all time Patriots record for most yards in a game by a quarterback.

Patriots WR Chad Ochocinco was in a state of shock at Brady's production, tweeting after the game, "Just waking up after a late arrival, I've never seen a machine operate like that n person, to see video game numbers put up n person was WOW."

Sadly, Chad had claim to only 14 of those yards, as he only was on the field for 18 of the offense's 80 plays.

On WEEI radio, this week, former Patriot and current ESPN analyst Tedi Bruschi was very critical of Ochocinco's seemingly harmless tweet. He said that Ochocinco needed to "drop the awe factor and stop tweeting and get in your playbook." He further commented:

"

"You're not someone who's on another team or watching TV. You're not an analyst. You're a part of it. They want you to be a part of it. So get with the program because obviously you're not getting it and you're tweeting because you're saying, 'It's amazing to see'? It's amazing to see because you don't understand it. You still don't understand it and it's amazing to you because you can't get it."

"

Bruschi went further, commenting on Ochocinco's late wake up and arrival:

""Wake up! If you're just waking up now—I don't know when this was, six minutes ago?—get out your bed and get to the stadium and watch some film if you still think it's amazing. If you're in it and you know what you're doing and you execute out there, you don't think it's amazing. You know why? Because it's what you're supposed to do.""

Ochocinco joined the Patriots late in the off season, and many analysts point to this as the reason he hasn't picked up Bill Belichick's complicated offense. Brady commented on the situation on the WEEI "Dennis and Callahan" show early Wednesday that, "from the day that [Chad] got here, he's worked really hard to be a part of this offense and be involved."

Ochocinco can prove Bruschi wrong this Sunday when the Patriots host the San Diego Chargers.
