Lance Moore Injury: Progress Can't Come Fast Enough for Drew Brees and Saints
With Marques Colston missing at least the next month, the Saints and their fans now have to want Lance Moore back on the field even more urgently.
The cupboard isn't exactly bare in New Orleans. It still has a deep group of receivers and Drew Brees at quarterback.
But the Saints are hosting a Chicago Bears team that made the NFC Championship Game last season and manhandled the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1. Remember that the Falcons are the defending NFC South Champions.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Saints are a strong team and play in a division where every team lost, so the 0-1 start is nothing more than a slight hiccup. Still, nobody wants to start at 0-2.
Moore said here in an interview with wwl.com that he is getting better and even hopes to get back on the field this week. Remember that the Saints were defeated by the Bears in Chicago in the NFC Championship game in January of 2007.
Since then, the Bears have defeated the Saints twice, both times in Chicago. This is the first time since that NFC Championship game that the two teams will square off in New Orleans.
Now, the Saints have enough depth to win without Moore for a week or two. Conversely, the Bears defense is good enough to beat the Saints even if Moore is on the field at full health.
But the best chance for the Saints to succeed clearly involves Moore on the field. Losing to the Packers in Lambeau Field isn’t the end of the world.
Losing to the Bears, even in New Orleans, wouldn’t be the end of the world either. Still, it would put the Saints at 0-2 with two losses to NFC North opponents. In other words, it would give New Orleans a sense of urgency that it really shouldn’t be playing with.
Moore’s injury is still an unknown, even to Moore. It’s promising that he’s feeling better.
But if he can’t be on the field at close to full strength, the Saints will have their backs against the wall against an already tough opponent.
