Week 2 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Why You Should Add Chargers' Nick Novak
The San Diego Chargers lost kicker Nate Kaeding for the season on the first play of their opening game and were left scrambling for a replacement. This week the Bolts signed veteran Nick Novak to take Kaeding's place, and he could turn into a great fantasy option.
In 22 career games over four seasons, Novak is 19-of-30 on field goal attempts. That's a pretty horrible average. But last year in the UFL, Novak was 15-of-18 and won the league's Special Teams Player of the Year award. He claims he has worked on his craft and fixed the flaws he had.
I'm not especially optimistic about a big change in accuracy from distance for Novak, but he will get plenty of chances to put up points as a member of the Chargers. The 30-year-old San Diego native has been with the team before in training camp stints, so the Bolts know his leg well and must be convinced he can be solid.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Chargers scored 27.6 points per game last season, which was second-best in the NFL. That means Novak should have plenty of chances to at least stick in some easy extra points. If you had Kaeding and were left with few options after his injury, replacing him with Novak makes sense.
San Diego will score points this year, that much is certain. If you have a need at kicker, snagging Novak could be a great move.
