UFC's 10 Most Anticipated Rematches!!!

Sean SchimlingNov 22, 2008

The rematch, a chance to even the score.Or is it a chance to prove yourself? Anyway you view it rematches are always fun. That is exactly why i came up with this list! So enjoy!!!!

10.Josh Koscheck v.s. Diego Sanchez 2

The first fight had its fireworks, from the weigh-ins to the actual fight. Koscheck pulled off the upset, but it was later disclosed that Diego had suffered from a staph infection during the fight, which may have altered his performance.

But these two men don't like each other, which always makes for a great fight! This fight could also have some serious impact on the welterweight division. Anyways, I'd love to see this fight happen, and maybe it will.

9.Nate Marquardt v.s. Thales Leites 2

This was a controversial fight. Leites won by split decision. Marquardt was deducted two crucial points for an illegal knee and hitting in the back of the head. Although Marquardt was in control the majority of the fight, those two points were his downfall.

Leites is a very good fighter, and has since won a easy victory over Drew McFedries. Marquardt has also won his last fight against Martin Kampmann, TKO-ing him in 82 seconds!

Both men are looking to get into title contention, and a rematch may just be what the doctor ordered.

8.Thiago Alves v.s. Jon Fitch 2

The No. 2 and 3 welterweights in the world going at it again. It very well could happen. Dana White recently announced GSP would face Anderson Silva if he beats B.J. Penn at UFC 94, which would mean Thiago could be waiting a while for his shot.

In the mean time, why not fight Jon Fitch again and prove your dominance? I know he would have nothing to gain, but it's fun to think about, right? Fitch is back in the UFC, and if he wins at UFC 94, he could be back in the picture!

7.Anderson Silva v.s. Yushin Okami 2

One of the few to beat Anderson Silva, Yushin Okami has racked up a pretty impressive UFC record of 7-1, with his only loss coming from Rich Franklin. Although I don't think Okami was actually beating Silva, he does deserve his rematch, and people want to see it.

Personally, I think Silva will demolish him, but hey, that's just me. Okami could pull off a Serra and beat the champ, but we have to wait and find out. A rematch could be in order!

6. Urijah Faber v.s. Jens Pulver 2

Both men coming off losses, having fought a war the first time, I wouldn't mind seeing it again. In my opinion, the first fight was a classic. Pulver took a beating from the former champ and still lasted five rounds.

Pulver did what no one else had done to Faber, hurt him. The WEC saw monster ratings and would be stupid not to make this happen again. As a MMA fan, I would love to see another war, and maybe this time Jens can remember to bring that infamous left with him. And both men better remember to bring some defense!

5. Anderson Silva v.s. Dan Henderson 2

I am a huge Dan Henderson fan, and believe that Hendo will train harder and better now that he has seen what the champ can do. A lot of people think that Henderson can pull off the upset, but that has yet to be seen.

Silva was frustrated in the first round, but he came out the second round like a raging bull. Henderson needs to worry about getting that 185-pound crown back, not the TUF 9 coaching job! Although if he does win against Bisping, a rematch is all but guaranteed!

Many people believe that Frank Mir holds the key to beating Brock Lesnar. I, on the other hand, don't.  But I can't say anything until they fight again. Mir has been running his mouth saying that Lesnar isn't a good fighter and he doesn't deserve the belt. Well, if Mir gets past Nogueria at UFC 92, we just may see that rematch! But if he doesn't, we may have to wait!

3. Chuck Liddell v.s. Wanderlei Silva 2

The first fight was an all-time classic, my house was packed with 15 people during UFC 79. When that fight came on, nobody removed their eyes from that screen. Hanging on every punch, yelling ooh's and ahh's at every kick.

That is why this one is on the list, it is a fight people have been talking about since '04. It met the hype and now people are wanting more. Instead of Anderson Silva, make it Wanderlei Silva, and have Anderson face Okami. Sounds good, right?

2. Georges St. Pierre v.s. BJ Penn 2

The first fight was also a classic, a lot of different perspectives of who won. St. Pierre was supposed to get a title shot, but got injured so B.J. filled in and lost. But he rebounded and now looks better than ever. St. Pierre also looks better than ever.

These two are gonna fight at UFC 94, we'll find out if the first fight was a fluke or not. This is one of the most talked about rematches in a long time. I believe St. Pierre will win because he is better all around, but you can never count B.J. out of anything.

I guess time will tell! Jan. 31 seems so far away!

1. Forrest Griffin v.s. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson 2

Their first fight was surrounded in controversy; many people believed that Rampage won the fight. But there are also many people who believe Forrest won the fight. I can see it both ways.

If you look at the judges' criteria, Forrest did win. But if you look at the damage both men took, and the dominance in striking, Rampage won. I also think that to be a champion, you must beat a champion, and Forrest didn't beat Rampage.

He just kind of out did him. A rematch has to happen whether it be for a belt or not, I just wanna see it. I know you guys do too!

So there you go, my Top 10 Most Anticipated Rematches! I know some will disagree with my ordering, but that is why I encourage to create your own! So don't be afraid to do that, and leave me FEEDBACK!!!!!! I wanna know what everyone thinks! (Lesnar/Mir at No. 4 is what I'm gonna guess everyone will be mad at!!)
