NFL Picks Week 2: Teams That Will Shock NFL by Remaining Undefeated

Michael DixonSep 14, 2011

What was your biggest Week 1 shocker? Was it a negative? OK, what team that won was your biggest Week 1 shocker?

Of those teams, which ones are likely to continue that luck into the second week, or even beyond. Well, these teams are a pretty good bet.

Buffalo Bills

Did anyone really expect the Bills to win in Week 1? OK, maybe you did, but did anyone predict a 41-7 road thumping of the Chiefs?

Their Week 2 home opener comes against the Raiders. Yes, the Raiders won on Monday night, but they played a sloppy game and struggled to beat a bad Broncos team.

The Bills are still a long shot to make the playoffs. The AFC is tough and sharing a division with the Patriots and Jets doesn't exactly suggest a lot of success.

But this is an emerging. I look for the Bills to win this one and head into a Week 3 showdown against the Patriots undefeated.

Prediction: Bills 31, Raiders 20

Washington Redskins

A relatively strong preseason translated to a Week 1 home victory against the Giants. Yes, the Giants were depleted, but they were still the favored team.

Now, the Redskins take on the Cardinals at home.

Like the Bills, they're still a long way from true contention. The Eagles are a strong team and have to be considered the clear NFC East favorites. But the Redskins' strong start was at least good enough to get the attention of the NFL.

The Cardinals are a vulnerable team. They had a hard time beating the Panthers at home in the first week. If they don't play much better, then the Redskins will beat them.

I don't see that happening.

Prediction: Redskins 23, Cardinals 17

Cincinnati Bengals

Given what they lost from a 2010 team that wasn't very good to begin with, the Bengals were not expected to be a good team.

Still, after pulling a minor upset and beating the Browns in Cleveland in Week 1, the Bengals will travel to Denver to take on the Broncos. After that, they host the 49ers.

A strong season was not at all expected, but 3-0 or 2-1 has to be somewhat likely. Playing in a division with Pittsburgh and Baltimore, a good season will be tough. But nobody expected a strong opening-week win from them.

The Broncos played a sloppy game against the Raiders. They could beat the Bengals, but are nowhere near good enough to pick.

Prediction: Bengals 24, Broncos 14
