Hal Steinbrenner: Yanks Offer Won’t Be on the Table Forever

C.C. Sabathia is still deciding on whether or not to take the Yankees offer. The rumor going around was that we would have a decision after Thanksgiving, but it may take even longer.

Hal Steinbrenner released a statement yesterday, basically saying that the Yanks offer won’t be on the table forever. Will this move work? I don’t know if rushing him will make him choose them, but who knows. The Dodgers are the team behind the Yankees in my opinion, but I just don’t see them offering anything close to the Yankees. If C.C. cares that much about the West Coast, and takes less money...I would be surprised. I say there is a 75 percent chance he comes to the Yankees. I will be pretty disappointed if he doesn’t. Then the Yankees will be really pressured to find other guys to plug into the rotation if he doesn’t come here.

“We’ve made him an offer. It’s not going to be there forever,” Steinbrenner said Thursday in New York, after he was approved as the Yankees’ new controlling owner during a meeting at Major League Baseball headquarters.

“I don’t know,” Girardi said. “I know players like to have, a lot of times, things get done before the holidays get here, so they know exactly where they’re going and they have an opportunity to find a place to live. I’m hoping things get done sooner than later, but sometimes players have a hard time making up their minds.”
