Who's Hot? and Who's Not! Week 5

Brandon RibakNov 22, 2008

The list of players below are a few of the best players in the fantasy NBA league as we approach Week Five of the NBA season.

FIRE ALERT!!!

+ Jameer Nelson (PG, ORL)- Jameer has been playing very well as of late, averaging 19.4 points per game in his last five appearances. Nelson has elevated his game this season and looks to continue his hot streak.

+ Devin Harris (PG, NJ)- Excluding the injured Tony Parker, Devin Harris is averaging the most points per game amongst every point-guard in the league. Harris has dropped 30 or more points in four of his eight games played so far this season. Harris will be ranked among the top 10 fantasy point-guards this year.

+ Dirk Nowitzki (PF, DAL)- Dirk is currently averaging 24.69 points per game, along with 8.38 rebounds, and 2.31 assists. He is shooting 92 percent from the free-throw line and has 13 3PTM in 13 games this season. Dirk has scored in double figures in all but one of his games this season.

+Antawn Jamison (PF, WAS)- Jamison is averaging a double-double in his last five games, with 21.20 points, 10.20 rebounds, 2.20 assists, and two steals. Expect Antawn to continue filling up the stat sheet this season with an injured Gilbert Arenas on the bench.

The list below are the players that are not living up to their potential coming into Week Five of the NBA fantasy season.

ICE COLD ALERT!!!

-Michael Beasley (F, MIA)- Beasley is in a minor slump over his last five games this season averaging only 11.80 points with 4.40 boards. He is also only averaging 24.2 minutes per game in his last five. Michael is a rookie and can't be relied on as a consistent fantasy player until he improves his numbers.

-Kevin Love (PF, MIN)- Love is another rookie that seems to be slowing down his production rather than speeding it up. He is averaging only 22.6 minutes per game in his last five. Hopefully Love can step up his game before he ruins his chances at winning the Rookie of the Year award. (Not like he has a chance anyway!)

-Yi Jianlian (PF, NJ)- Yi has not proven to be a consistent player since he stepped foot on the court last season. He has shown slight signs of improvement in his rebounding ability but has averaged only 9.45 points and 6.91 rebounds in 11 games this season. If their are better alternatives in your free agency, I suggest you scoop them up now and drop Yi.
