NBA Free Agents 2011: Top 10 Restricted Free Agents

Jeffrey McKinneySep 13, 2011

As the NBA lockout continues, players, coaches and league officials alike wonder what their future will hold.

If the league does resume, one of the first things teams will have to decide is what free agents they will try to get, let go of and keep.

Some teams will have an easier decision than others, as their players are restricted free agents.

Although this year’s class may not have the big superstar names like next year will have, there are still many decent players out there.

Here’s a look at the top 10 of 2011.

Greg Oden

1 of 10

Starting the list off is the controversial pick of Greg Oden.

Oden was the first pick overall in the 2007 draft.

Since being drafted, he has only played a total of 82 games.

While he is a risk to any team that could take him, Oden still has the potential to be a double-double big man in the league when healthy.

Mario Chalmers

2 of 10

Although LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh were the talk of the town in Miami, Chalmers showed signs that he could be a great compliment to the big three.

Chalmers may not be known for his scoring, but he can provide some good defense. In his rookie season, Chalmers was among the league leaders in steals.

If Chalmers continues to live up to his potential and Miami decides to keep him, he could become a great addition to the big three.

Aaron Brooks

3 of 10

Brooks’ numbers may have slipped some over the past year or so due to injuries and starting behind Steve Nash, but Brooks can still be a good scorer.

Over his career, Brooks averages 12.5 points a game to go along with 3.6 assists.

Thaddeus Young

4 of 10

Averaging 12.5 points and nearly five rebounds a game, Young is one of the 76ers options off the bench.

Although Young’s numbers have dropped a little since he was a starter for the team in the 08-09 season, he played in all 82 games last season.

As long as Young continues to put up numbers, he should have no problem remaining with the 76ers.

Jeff Green

5 of 10

Jeff Green’s short career has come full circle.

Green was originally drafted by Boston in the 2007 draft. Green was traded to the Seattle Supersonics the same night in a trade that involved Ray Allen.

Green was traded back to Boston earlier this year.

In Boston, Green came off the bench, putting up 9.8 points and 3.3 rebounds.

Over his career, though, Green has averaged as high as 16.5 pts and 6.6 rebounds.

Arron Affalo

6 of 10

Arron Affalo had a breakout season last year.

Affalo averaged 12.6 pts, 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

What makes Afflalo stand out is his ability to play defense as well as offense.

Because of this, Denver will most likely match any offer another team throws

Wilson Chandler

7 of 10

Wilson Chandler became a member of the Denver Nuggets when he was a part of the trade that sent Carmelo Anthony to the Knicks.

Chandler has great leaping ability and plays good above the rim on both ends of the court.

Like his teammate Arron Affalo, Denver should look to keep Chandler.

Nick Young

8 of 10

Despite the controversy that has been in Nick Young’s career, he is one of the best young scorers in the league.

Last season, Young averaged a career high 17.4 points per game.

Washington should look to keep Young, as he, along with John Wall and JaVale McGee, make up a nice young nucleus for the team.

Rodney Stuckey

9 of 10

Rodney Stuckey has been one of the few bright spots on the Detroit Pistons.

Last season, Stuckey averaged 15.5 pts, 5.2 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game.

Stuckey is a decent scorer and one player Detroit should hold on to for a while.

Marc Gasol

10 of 10

Marc Gasol, the younger brother of the Lakers' Pau Gasol, shined in the playoffs this past year.

Gasol averaged a double-double throughout, helping the Grizzlies upset the San Antonio Spurs.

If Gasol continues to improve, he could be one of the best big men in the league.
