Liverpool FC News: Kenny Dalglish Cannot Escape Injury Concerns at Anfield

Wes ODonnellSep 13, 2011

The Reds are anxiously awaiting the return of their captain Steven Gerrard.

His return is slated to be the Merseyside derby on October 1 with Everton

Liverpool, who are coming off their first loss of the campaign, cannot wait to see him back on the pitch.

They do, however, have three more games in a week span before they can think about that match though.

And unfortunately, another injury has befallen boss Kenny Dalglish's side.

According to Mirror Football:

"

But it is not all good news for the Reds' boss - full-back Glen Johnson could be out for at least another month with a recurrence of the hamstring injury that has blighted his start to the season.

The England international only made his season debut as a late substitute at the Britannia Stadium, but broke down with hamstring problems ... The defender underwent a scan on the injury, and while the results will not be known until Tuesday, it is likely he will be ruled out until mid-October.

"

Hamstring injuries are not to be trifled with. If rushed back onto the pitch or even worked too hard too early Johnson could be hampered by the problem for the majority of the year.

The only clear-cut way to heal a hamstring problem is to give it a complete rest for as long as possible.

At 27 years old, the right back plans to factor into Dalglish's shaky back line this year, and the Reds certainly need him.

His experience in the Premiership and international level is irreplaceable to a squad with a number of young stars.

It is unfortunate timing for the injury as Dalglish would have loved to be at full strength for the Merseyside derby and the following clash with Manchester United two weeks later.

But such is life on the pitch and injuries are as much a part of the game as winning and losing.

The return of Gerrard will be huge for this club, and the eventual return of Johnson will only add to their potential success this season.

Have hope Liverpool faithful; this club is going to be better soon enough.
