Arian Foster Injury: Huge Yards Await Foster in Possible Week 2 Return

Richard LangfordJun 7, 2018

Arian Foster has to be chomping at the bit to return to the field. The Texans put on an absolute clinic in their opening week drubbing of the Colts, and in the process they opened up plenty of holes for their running backs. Due to his ailing hamstring Foster could do nothing but watch his teammates run through them.

I haven't seen any updates on Foster's health following the Texans' victory, but given the fact that he was a game-time decision last Sunday, it is reasonable to assume Foster will be ready to take the field next Sunday when the Texans travel to take on the Miami Dolphins.

When he does, he is going to light up the stat sheet.

The Texans offense was clicking like a well-oiled machine this past Sunday, and their offensive line appeared to be at their dominating best.

If you subtract QB Matt Schaub's four carries, for precisely zero yards, the Texans had 37 carries for 161 yards and two touchdowns. That is good for 4.35 yards per carry. And those numbers were amassed by runners not as explosive as Foster.

Rookie Ben Tate got the majority of the work load. He carried 24 times for 116 yards. That is good for a 4.8 yards per carry average.

Foster should be able to eclipse this number. By all appearances, this offense seems to have cranked it up a notch from last year. And last year Foster was almost unstoppable. He ran for 1,616 yards at 4.9 yards per carry.

If this is the only game Foster misses this season, I expect he will improve on those impressive numbers.
