Boise State Football: Broncos Inching Closer to First National Title Appearance
Boise State deserves a chance to play in the BCS National Championship game if they go undefeated on the season and the teams ahead of them falter.
Keeping with the thought that Boise State will win out, they will definitely jump ahead of either LSU or Alabama after those two teams play one another. This would put them at No. 3 in the rankings, and it would be up to Oklahoma and the winner of the LSU-Alabama matchup to win out in order to appear in the title game.
If the Sooners or the winner of LSU vs. ‘Bama falter, it should put the Broncos on the inside track to playing in their first national title game.
The Broncos were mentioned asa potential national title team last year, until they inexplicably blew a winnable game against the Nevada Wolf Pack in November.
Quarterback Kellen Moore and his band of players labeled as too slow, too small and any other derogatory adjectives you want to attach to a mid-major, have been consistently proving that their team is ready for the big stage, able to play with anyone in the country.
They settled for an absolute dismantling of the Utah Utes in the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas last season and want to make it back to a BCS game this year, preferably the National Championship.
The Broncos stunned Oklahoma back in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, and also beat TCU in the Fiesta Bowl after the 2009 season.
If the voters and BCS formula give the Broncos a chance to play in their first National Championship, Boise State will not disappoint. The Broncos are a good football team and have already proved it by beating a tough SEC foe in Georgia in the Georgia Dome.
The team will travel anywhere and beat anyone and loves to prove themselves against some of the top programs in the nation.
Why not let them do this on the biggest stage? If they can win out this year, they’ve certainly earned the chance.
