Serena Williams Video: Watch Tennis Star Flip Out on Umpire at 2011 US Open

While she may be a tennis legend in the United States, Serena Williams is just a spoiled rotten brat.

They say adversity shows a person’s true colors, and as soon as Williams started losing in the final of the 2011 US Open on Sunday in New York, she proved why many fans and analysts think she is a nightmare like John McEnroe was for American tennis.

Williams has a long history of these on-court tantrums, and all they prove is that Serena is more worried about herself than the sport she is playing or the people that look up to her.

I understand arguing a call, but to attack a person personally for doing her job is a joke, and Serena should be embarrassed.

Williams said to the umpire during her loss in the finals of the 2011 US Open:

"

I promise you, if you ever see me walking down the hallway, look the other way, 'cause you're out of control. You're out of control. Totally out of control, you're a hater, and you're just unattractive inside. How could you do such a thing? And I never complain. WOW. What a loser. A rules violation because I express who I am? We're in America, last time I checked…Really, don't even look at me. I promise you, don't look at me, because I am not the one. Don't. Look. My. Way.

"

The reason she flipped on the umpire was because she was getting beat down so badly by eventual winner Sam Stosur, and the umpire made a call that she didn’t like.

Instead of acting like an adult, Serena launched into a rant chastising the umpire and her character, but in the process, Serena embarrassed herself and made the sport look bad to the people who only watched the final.

If the people in charge of the tennis world had any gumption, they would make an example of Williams for embarrassing the sport on the biggest stage by suspending her until she learns to act like a grown-up.

Serena Williams needs to be taught a lesson, and what better way than by sitting out for a year.
