Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 2: 50 Top Point Scorers Available Your League

James TateJun 7, 2018

Here is a list of guys that will be available this week, either by trade or on waivers, that will be the highest scoring players for the rest of the season.  Fantasy football championships can be won by finding that "hot guy" after week 1 that is set to have the breakout year. Finding that guy this week is key.

1. San Francisco 49ers WR Ted Ginn

1 of 50

Ted Ginn is only owned in one percent of Yahoo! fantasy leagues, and he showed on Sunday the ability he has to take over a game.  He is a good add in most leagues, but he is an absolute must add in leagues where you get points for return yardage. Ginn finished the day with 176 kick return yards and 92 yards on punt returns.

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler

2 of 50

Jay Cutler is available in 33 percent of Yahoo! leagues.  There are going to be some ups and downs with Cutler, but at the end of the year he will be among the top quarterback scorers.  He threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday.

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White

3 of 50

Every league has that one guy who is ready to give up on his players, even if they are a stud, after one bad game.  If that guy owns Roddy White in your league, make him an offer this week.  You might be able to get one of the best talents at the receiver position for less than market value.

Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson

4 of 50

People are going to be down on CJ after Sunday's performance.  He ended the day with just 24 yards on nine carries.  He looked out of sync with the offense after missing all of training camp during a contract dispute.  Take this opportunity to make a low-ball offer to the guy who has him in your league.  He will get better and better as the season goes along.

Cincinnati Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham

5 of 50

Jermaine Gresham is going to be the safety blanket for whichever quarterback the Bengals end up playing.  He is only owned in f15 percent of Yahoo! leagues and could be a good fill-in for when your starting tight end is on a bye, if nothing else.

Cleveland Browns RB Peyton Hillis

6 of 50

Peyton Hillis is another buy low candidate.  He had a rough start to the season, just 57 yards, and a lot of people will be ready to jump off the Hillis bandwagon thinking that last year was a fluke.  The numbers will be there when the season is over.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB LeGarrette Blount

7 of 50

LeGarrette Blount got off to a rough start on Sunday with just 15 yards on five carries.  He proved last year that he has the ability to be a top fantasy running back.  This was just a hiccup.  The person who owns him in your league might be willing to part with him for less than he is worth.

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford

8 of 50

Stafford showed on Sunday that he has the ability to be an elite fantasy quarterback.  He threw for 305 yards and three touchdowns.  A lot of people are scared off because of his injury history, so you might be able to acquire him for less than elite fantasy quarterback cost.

Cleveland Browns RB Montario Hardesty

9 of 50

A lot of people forget that Montario Hardesty beat out Hillis for the starting job last year in camp before being lost of the season with an ACL injury in the final preseason game.  He isn't owned in many leagues, and he could be in line for a big year if Hillis stumbles.

Buffalo Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

10 of 50

Ryan Fitzpatrick is only owned in 46 percent of Yahoo! leagues.  He threw for 208 yards and four touchdowns on Sunday and looks to be in for a breakout season.

St. Louis Rams RB Cadillac Williams

11 of 50

Cadillac Williams is available in your league, and he proved on Sunday that he can be a reliable fill-in for the oft-injured Steven Jackson.  Williams rushed for 91 yards on Sunday and was the target of 10 Sam Bradford passes.

Buffalo Bills TE Scott Chandler

12 of 50

Scott Chandler is owned in zero percent of Yahoo! leagues.  That's right, ZERO.  On Sunday he had five catches for 63 yards and two touchdowns.  He is worth an add in any format.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin

13 of 50

Maclin's stock fell rapidly with an offseason illness.  Maclin is owned in 97 percent of Yahoo! leagues but can probably be had for cheap in a trade.  He only had one catch for 20 yards on Sunday, but he will come around in time.  Keep in mind that he is a little bit behind because he missed so much of training camp.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew

14 of 50

MJD looked healthy on Sunday, but some owners might be concerned with the fact that the Jaguars gave Deji Karim 14 carries.  Jones-Drew was blowing people up on Sunday, and that will continue throughout the year.  See if you can talk his owner into parting with him for something less than what he is worth.

Detroit Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew

15 of 50

Matthew Stafford targeted Brandon Pettigrew six times on Sunday.  The Lions are going to have a high-powered offense this season, and Pettigrew is sure to be a favorite target inside the red zone.  He is still available in 25 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman

16 of 50

Josh Freeman was really good in his second year in the league last year.  He got off to a little bit of a rough start on Sunday.  Who wouldn't when facing the Lions D line?  He is owned in your league but could be acquired for cheap.

Tennessee Titans QB Matt Hasselbeck

17 of 50

Matt Hasselbeck is available in 73 percent of Yahoo! leagues, and his performance Sunday proves that he can still play.  He threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns, and has weapons to burn in the Titans offense.  The Titans are going to throw the ball more this year than in years past, so you can expect these numbers from him week in and week out.

Tennessee Titans TE Jared Cook

18 of 50

Jared Cook was a hot sleeper at the tight end position during draft season.  Sunday was a disaster for him as just one catch for seven yards.  Keep an eye out this week to see if he is dropped in your league.  Pick him up and stash him away because he is going to have a big year.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger

19 of 50

Sunday was a rough day for Big Ben.  He threw three picks.  He has proved to be a top quarterback over the last couple of seasons, but a lot of fantasy football players don't view him that way.  Use that to your advantage and acquire him this week.

Baltimore Ravens TE Ed Dickson

20 of 50

Dickson proved to be a favorite target of Joe Flacco on Sunday.  He was targeted five times and had five catches for 59 yards and a touchdown on Sunday.  He is available in 98 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Emmanuel Sanders

21 of 50

Sanders only had two catches for 20 yards yesterday, but one was for a touchdown.  He is a big play threat for the Steelers and is only owned in 12 percent of Yahoo! leagues.  He has the potential to have a Mike Wallace-type breakout year.

Pittsburgh Steelers D/ST

22 of 50

The Ravens lit up the Steelers defense for 35 points on Sunday.  That won't be the case every week, but the person who has them in your league might be ready to jump ship.  See if you can add them because they can be a crucial part to winning each week.

Houston Texans RB Ben Tate

23 of 50

Arian Foster is clearly the #1 back in Houston when healthy, but he has been slowed by a hamstring injury for the last few weeks.  The thing about hamstring injuries is that they tend to linger.  The Texans really like Tate, they drafted him in the second round last year, and he showed on Sunday that he can get the job done.  He had 116 yards and a touchdown.

Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub

24 of 50

Matt Schaub wasn't great on Sunday.  He finished the game 17 of 24 for 220 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.  Those numbers came against a defense that isn't very good. Try to buy low on him this week before he really starts to put up the numbers.

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton

25 of 50

Cam Newton was very impressive in his NFL debut.  He threw for 422 yards and two touchdowns.  He is only owned in 33 percent of Yahoo! leagues.  It appears the sky is the limit for Newton, even as a rookie.

Arizona Cardinals QB Kevin Kolb

26 of 50

Kevin Kolb is still available in 14 percent of Yahoo! leagues, and he is going to put up points in 2011.  He threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday against the Panthers.  Even if he is owned in your league, he is probably the back-up quarterback for that owner.  See if you can get him for cheap.

Houston Texans TE Owen Daniels

27 of 50

Owen Daniels only had one catch for 12 yards on Sunday.  He is two years removed from ACL surgery which means that he is finally at 100 percent.  He is sure to put up a lot of points in Gary Kubiak's offense.

Arizona Cardinals RB Beanie Wells

28 of 50

Beanie Wells finally got the opportunity to be the feature back for the Cardinals on Sunday, and he racked up 90 yards and a touchdown.  He has Larry Fitzgerald to open things up for him underneath.  He is remarkably still available in 12 percent of Yahoo! leagues.  That won't last long.

Arizona Cardinals WR Early Doucet

29 of 50

Doucet is owned in only 2 percent of Yahoo! leagues.  He established himself as the #2 in Arizona on Sunday when he had 3 catches for 105 yards and touchdown. Doucet will see a lot of single coverage with Larry Fitzgerald on the other side.

Carolina Panthers WR Brandon LaFell

30 of 50

Cam Newton is going to need a target besides Steve Smith, and that guy appears to be Brandon LaFell.  He finished Sunday's game with 70 yards on 4 carries.  He has the speed to get down the field, and Newton has the arm to get him the ball.

San Diego Chargers RB Ryan Mathews

31 of 50

People were down on Mathews after a less than stellar rookie campaign.  He is still available in 11 percent of Yahoo! leagues.  People aren't going to be any more excited about him after Sunday's performance where he rushed for just 45 yards.  He is going to get better as the season goes along.

San Diego Chargers RB Mike Tolbert

32 of 50

Mike Tolbert is still available in 15 percent of Yahoo! leagues.  That is crazy considering he looks to be one of the focal points of San Diego's deadly offense.  He had 12 carries and nine receptions on Sunday.

Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin

33 of 50

The Minnesota passing attack looked out of rhythm on Sunday, but when Donovan McNabb gets it on track his favorite target is going to be Percy Harvin.  Harvin is still available in a lot of leagues, and he did have a 103-yard kickoff return for a touchdown on Sunday.  Percy had just one catch against the Chargers, but he was targeted more than any other receiver for the Vikings.

San Diego Chargers WR Malcolm Floyd

34 of 50

Malcolm Floyd made a lot of big plays last year when healthy.  He only had three catches on Sunday but was targeted eight times.  He is still available in 19 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch

35 of 50

Lynch is still available in 16 percent of Yahoo! leagues.  He should be owned in every league because he is going to get the carries this year in Seattle.  He didn't get off to a great start, but things will start to open up for him when Sidney Rice returns from injury.

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore

36 of 50

Frank Gore is another buy low candidate.  He only rushed for 59 yards on Sunday.  Some owners might be down on him, which is a mistake because the 49ers offense is going to run through him this season.

Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin

37 of 50

Doug Baldwin had four catches for 83 yards and a touchdown yesterday.  He was targeted six times.  Baldwin is currently owned in zero percent of Yahoo! leagues.  He will also benefit from the return on Sidney Rice.

Washington Redskins QB Rex Grossman

38 of 50

Rex Grossman is owned in just 6% of Yahoo! leagues.  He put up really good numbers Sunday against a tough New York Giants defense.  He ended the day with 302 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Washington Redskins D/ST

39 of 50

All of the talk heading into Sunday's game between the Giants and Redskins was about the Giants offense.  The Redskins defense gave them headaches all day.  The Giants were only able to manage 14 points while the Skins defense scored a touchdown and recorded four sacks.

Washington Redksins TE Fred Davis

40 of 50

Fred Davis was one of Rex Grossman's favorite targets on Sunday.  He was targeted six times and had five receptions for 105 yards.  He is only owned in one percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Washington Redskins RB Tim Hightower

41 of 50

Tim Hightower proved Sunday that he is the feature back in Washington.  He had 72 yards rushing and 25 yards receiving.  Hightower is still available in 13 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

New York Jets RB LaDainian Tomlinson

42 of 50

Tomlinson is no longer the feature back he was in San Diego, but he is still a valuable player on your fantasy team.  He only carried the ball five times on Sunday night, but he caught six passes for 73 yards.  He is still a free agent in 44 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez

43 of 50

People shy away from Mark Sanchez because the Jets are a run first team, but he has more weapons at his disposal in the passing game this year than ever before.  He lit up the Cowboys Sunday night for two touchdowns and 335 yards.  He is only owned in 62 percent of Yahoo! leagues and could fill that void Peyton Manning left on your roster.

New York Jets WR Plaxico Burress

44 of 50

Burress was sharp in the preseason and continued that Sunday night when he caught four passes for 72 yards.  He is still available in 13 percent of all leagues.

New York Jets TE Dustin Keller

45 of 50

Keller is one of Mark Sanchez's favorite targets.  Sanchez threw the ball his way eight times on Sunday night which yielded 61 yards and a touchdown.  Keller is available in 44 percent of leagues.

Green Bay Packers RB James Starks

46 of 50

James Starks looked to be ahead of Ryan Grant on the depth chart this week.  He had a nice game with 57 yards and touchdown.  He is available in 43 percent of leagues.

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson

47 of 50

Nelson should be owned in every league, but he is available in 30 percent of leagues right now. He is going to be a favorite target of Aaron Rodgers this season.  He had a good game Thursday night with six catches for 77 yards a touchdown.

New Orleans Saints D/ST

48 of 50

The Saints defense got lit up Thursday night, but that won't be the case all year.  Gregg Williams will get them back on track this week.  An added bonus to picking up the Saints D is that you get points when Darren Sproles returns a kick or a punt for a touchdown.

New Orleans RB Darren Sproles

49 of 50

A lot of people were afraid to pick Darren Sproles in drafts this year because of the crowded backfield in New Orleans.  Thursday night showed us that Sproles is going to be the third down back, the back on most passing downs, and a dynamic kick/punt returner.  He is still on waivers in 41 percent of leagues.

Buffalo Bills D/ST

50 of 50

The Bills defense held a very good Chiefs offense to seven points on the road on Sunday.  They are available in 99 percent of Yahoo! leagues.
