NFL Scores Week 1: Live Score Update Has Cam Newton Making History vs. Cardinals
It looks like rookie quarterback Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers may have a chance to go into the desert and upset the Arizona Cardinals.
There’s still plenty of time left, but the Panthers are looking good, and Newton is no doubt at the forefront of that.
It's early in the fourth and the Panthers are tied up with new Cardinal quarterback Kevin Kolb 21-21.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
It’s still anyone’s game, but this would be a surprising win for the Panthers to say the least.
The rookie Newton has been impressive though. Even though he threw a pick, he’s nearing 300 yards through the air with two touchdowns and one rushing touchdown.
Earlier in the game he made a beautiful 77-yard touchdown pass to the once-great Steve Smith. It will be interesting to see if Newton can rejuvenate Smith’s career.
Like I said, the game’s still up in the air and both teams seem to have an equal chance to pull it off. It will be interesting to see how the fourth quarter transpires.
Storylines
Quarterbacks are the main storyline of this game. The Cardinals went out and traded for Kevin Kolb to be their franchise quarterback, so now he has to prove to them that he’s capable of leading the team from behind and pulling off a big win at home. Newton on the other hand is a raw rookie in his first NFL game. There are tons of questions regarding how good he can actually be, but right now he is showing some potential.
Newton has already set an NFL record for most passing yards by a rookie in their first start. The former holder of the record was Peyton Manning.
Obviously this would be a huge upset for a Cardinals team that is expected to do a lot this year, but it would be an even bigger win for a struggling Carolina franchise. A new quarterback, a new coach and a potential upset on the horizon are all good signs for the Panthers.
A loss in Kevin Kolb's first start with the Cardinals will not be taken well in Arizona, so it's worth keeping your eye on. Let's see if he can put the Cardinals on top.
