Steelers vs. Ravens: TV Info, Over/Under, Spread and Final Pregame Prediction

Kyle VassaloSep 11, 2011

This might be Ray Lewis' last game against the Steelers in Baltimore. With future Hall of Famers littering the field, this game is too close for even Vegas to call. Five of the last six times these teams have squared off in the regular season, the game has been decided by a field goal.

Opening day features the most physical game of the season between two teams that could be on their way to a Super Bowl run. The battle for AFC North supremacy could be decided in Week 1.

Over/Under: (37)

Thirty-seven is actually a fairly high over/under for this game. Two of the three times they saw each other last season, the total score was below 32 points. This game is usually a defensive struggle and you can count on seeing both teams struggle to get their offenses going against such sound defenses in their opener.

Spread: Pick 'em.

It's no surprise to see a pick 'em here. While it's tempting to take the home team and defending AFC champ, this isn't the slam dunk it may appear to be on the surface. The Steelers are lamenting a Super Bowl loss and they know this game won't be decided until the fourth quarter.

Final Pre-Game Prediction

Steelers 14, Ravens 17

This one is going to come down to the wire. It's going to come down to which team makes the least amount of mistakes, just as it always does, but the added boost to the Ravens secondary could be the slight edge they need to pull this one through.

As long as Mike Wallace is kept under control, it's going to be hard for the Steelers to move the ball. Rashard Mendenhall had two lackluster games against the Ravens last year. We can expect him to be a non-factor and the Steelers can't victimize the Ravens secondary the way they'll need to to come away with a victory.
