Fantasy Football Week 1: 3 Stars That Will Disappoint

Ryan RudnanskyJun 2, 2018

Any fantasy football guru will tell you fantasy football is a game of putting your players in the best spot to succeed, much like a coach does in the real game.

While it’s difficult to ever sit your stars, every week there are some stars that highly disappoint and can lead to you losing your matchup.

Here are three stars I see having subpar performances in Week 1.

3. Tony Romo, QB, Dallas Cowboys

During the regular season, Cowboys star quarterback Tony Romo has always been a nice commodity to have for fantasy football.

In 2010 he played in only four games before getting injured, but in 2009 he scored the seventh-most points in Yahoo! Sports leagues with 282 points. He threw for nearly 4,500 yards with 26 touchdowns and only nine interceptions.

But against the New York Jets on Sunday, things will be different. He faces one of the best cornerback tandems in the league and will have a hard time throwing it to his No. 1 receiver with Darrelle Revis sticking to him like Darrelle Revis.

2. Michael Turner, RB, Atlanta Falcons

Michael Turner has been a workhorse throughout the years for the Falcons and figures to have another huge season in 2011 while Matt Ryan, Roddy White and Julio Jones keep the defenses honest.

But against the Chicago Bears, who allowed just 3.7 yards per carry in 2010, he’s going to have a difficult time gaining much ground.

Don’t expect him to live up to his draft-day average draft position in Week 1.

1. Miles Austin, WR, Dallas Cowboys

Miles Austin may be the No. 1 receiver on a potent offense, but against New York Jets corner Darrelle Revis, the best in the NFL at his position, Austin will not only disappoint fantasy football owners, but himself, as well.

Keep in mind he’s also listed as probable with hamstring injury.

Being limited against Darrelle Revis? I don’t think so.
