Djokovic vs. Nadal: Score and Highlights from US Open Tennis 2011 Men's Final

Carlos TorresJun 7, 2018

For the second year in a row it will be Novak Djokovic vs Rafael Nadal for the Men's US Open title. He defeated Djokovic last year with the score 6–4, 5–7, 6–4, 6–2.

But how things have changed in a year. Last year Nadal was the top ranked player in the world, but this year Djokovic is the world's No. 1.

Last year it was Rafa who came into the US Open final with a shot at winning his third Grand Slam in one year. This year is Djokovic the one looking to win his third Slam of the year.

Djokovic is having one of the best years tennis have ever seen and could cap it off with a win here. Nadal is looking for redemption and a bigger piece of the 2011 history.

Nole comes into the final after an epic five set match win over Roger Federer.

He came down fro two sets and two match points, to win four games in a row and get into the finals.

When I watched Djokovic setting up to return, down two match points—for the second year in a row—to Federer, his expression was like saying 'It's OK, I got him right where I wanted him.'

If there is a word to describe Djokovic's heroics it would be spectacular. He must be riding high in confidence after that monumental comeback.

Nadal is also riding his wrecking train in high gears. He seems back healthy and in top form, just in time for his biggest challenge of the tournament.

Even though Nadal dropped a set to Andy Murray, he outworked and out shot Murray. He is ready to go for his 11th Grand Slam.

The head-to-head series between these two greats is led by Nadal 16-12.

But Djokovic has defeated Nadal five times in a row this year—all finals—across all surfaces. Nadal has yet to find an answer to Nole's domination this year.

Djokovic's is one of the few players that make Nadal turn into the aggressor rather than the counter attacker. But you can bet Nadal will keep coming at him no matter what.

It will be the battle between the world's two best players, and I am sure they will not disappoint, and give us a match to remember.

Keep coming back here between now and the finals, as I will be updating you with all the latest news and tidbits building up to the finals.

Then on Monday you can follow here the live coverage of the match, so make you bookmark this page.
