Power Ranking Every NFL Uniform Worn in 2010
The NFL uniform has seen numerous changes over the years. During the 2010 season we saw the greatest number of different jerseys worn by teams ever.
Today we will rank every NFL uniform worn in 2010. For those of you that know me, you know that I am no master of clothing styles. For this reason I have brought in an expert on clothing styles to help with this ranking: my wife.
If you think it is impossible to work with your spouse, I will probably prove you right. Hopefully I will just make it through this article still sleeping in my bed instead of on the couch.
32. Seattle Seahawks
1 of 32Jersey Colors: Pacific blue with white numbers; white with Pacific blue numbers; bright green with white numbers
My Wife's Take: Ewww.
My Take: I'm serious that my wife just said ewww and that their jerseys look like boogers. Sorry Seattle.
31. Kansas City Chiefs
2 of 32Jersey Colors: Red with white numbers; white with red numbers
My Wife's Take: Yikes.
My Take: Okay, it isn't that bad, but it is pretty bad.
30. Minnesota Vikings
3 of 32Jersey Colors: Purple with white numbers; white with purple numbers
My Wife's Take: These jerseys make me think about grape Jolly Ranchers and cough syrup. Did I tell you that I hate both of those things?
My Take: That much purple should never be worn by a professional anything.
29. Arizona Cardinals
4 of 32Jersey Colors: White with red numbers; red with white numbers; black with white numbers
My Wife's Take: These are classy uniforms that lean towards the boring side.
My Take: I'm not a big fan of the red and white, but I love the black jerseys for the team. Not the best jersey, but certainly not the worst.
28. Atlanta Falcons
5 of 32Jersey Colors: Red with white numbers; white with red numbers; black with white numbers
My Wife's Take: Very similar to the Arizona Cardinals jerseys. They aren't ugly, but they aren't anything special either.
My Take: This may sound a little picky, but I actually really like the way the numbers are portrayed on the Atlanta Falcons jerseys. They just look bold. Okay, I'm going to stop talking now.
27. Detroit Lions
6 of 32Jersey Colors: Blue with white numbers; white with blue numbers; throwback (royal blue with silver numbers)
My Wife's Take: I'm a little bored with these jerseys and wish they would have made the numbers a bit larger on the blue jersey.
My Take: How big the numbers are doesn't really matter to me, but I do agree that the jerseys are a little boring.
26. Washington Redskins
7 of 32Jersey Colors: Burgundy with white numbers; white with burgundy numbers
My Wife's Take: The Washington Redskins jerseys definitely have a vintage look going for them. However, I wish they would move on and leave this look in the past.
My Take: I really like how they describe this color as burgundy because it reminds me of Ron Burgundy. That is actually the nicest thing I can say about these jerseys.
25. Buffalo Bills
8 of 32Jersey Colors: Dark blue with white numbers; white with blue numbers; throwback (dark blue with white numbers)
My Wife's Take: I'm wondering why the Buffalo Bills ever went away from their throwback jersey. It's easily the best look they have.
My Take: The throwback jersey is classic, but it must bring back so many memories for Bills fans everywhere. The new jerseys aren't anything to go crazy about.
24. Baltimore Ravens
9 of 32Jersey Colors: Purple with white numbers; black with white numbers; white with purple numbers
My Wife's Take: The shading of the numbers looks really good on the white jersey. The Baltimore Ravens went with a pretty basic complementary color scheme with purple and gold.
My Take: I could do without the purple jersey, but the black and white jerseys are awesome.
23. New England Patriots
10 of 32Jersey Colors: Navy blue with white numbers; red with white numbers; white with navy blue numbers
My Wife's Take: I'm not a huge fan of the red jersey, but the other two aren't too bad.
My Take: Personally, the red jersey is my favorite of the bunch and reminds me of when the New England Patriots were not a very good football team. Can they please start wearing those jerseys every game?
22. New York Jets
11 of 32Jersey Colors: Green with white numbers; white with green numbers
My Wife's Take: Well, they are definitely green.
My Take: This green just doesn't have the same look as the Green Bay Packers' green does. Absolutely nothing special about this jersey.
21. Cincinnati Bengals
12 of 32Jersey Colors: Black with white numbers; orange with white numbers; white with black numbers
My Wife's Take: Really enjoying the tiger stripes, but it borders on the side of too costumish.
My Take: The black jersey with white numbers and an orange border is one of the better jerseys in the league. I wish I felt the same about their other jersey schemes, but I don't.
20. New York Giants
13 of 32Jersey Colors: White with red numbers; navy blue with white numbers; red with white numbers
My Wife's Take: Nothing too special about these, as the New York Giants don't incorporate all three colors in any one jersey.
My Take: I've never realized that, and I'm glad my wife pointed that out. Shame on you, New York Giants.
19. Dallas Cowboys
14 of 32Jersey Colors: Navy blue with white numbers; white with blue numbers; throwback (navy blue with white numbers)
My Wife's Take: Could do without the throwback jersey, but I like the navy blue. I know this doesn't matter for much, but the helmets are pretty sweet.
My Take: Not a big fan of any of the jerseys the Dallas Cowboys wore last year.
18. San Francisco 49ers
15 of 32Jersey Colors: Red with white numbers; white with red numbers
My Wife's Take: Just the red jersey and white jersey look good, but if you factor in the gold pants and gold helmet, this jersey takes a major hit.
My Take: While I like that the San Francisco 49ers went a little more classic with these jerseys, they just aren't doing anything for me visually.
17. Houston Texans
16 of 32Jersey Colors: Red with white numbers; white with red numbers; navy blue with white numbers
My Wife's Take: God bless America.
My Take: Ditto.
16. Denver Broncos
17 of 32Jersey Colors: Navy blue with white numbers; orange with white numbers; white with navy blue numbers
My Wife's Take: Is it just me, or does this jersey make it look like the Denver Broncos players have gun holsters on? Once again, I'm not a fan of the orange jersey, but the navy blue and white are especially nice.
My Take: Ehhh. Not bad, not good.
15. Jacksonville Jaguars
18 of 32Jersey Colors: Teal with white numbers: white with black numbers
My Wife's Take: Teal is a very bold choice for men, but it works well for a franchise located in Florida.
My Take: I will rank this jersey just like I rank the Jacksonville Jaguars franchise as a whole: mediocre.
14. Miami Dolphins
19 of 32Jersey Colors: White with aqua numbers; aqua with white numbers; orange with white numbers
My Wife's Take: Is it just me, or are the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars' jerseys eerily similar?
My Take: I guess aqua and teal are basically the same color. That is news to me, but my wife is correct that neither jersey speaks loudly.
13. Carolina Panthers
20 of 32Jersey Colors: White with black numbers; blue with white numbers; black with white numbers
My Wife's Take: There is just something about that Carolina blue that strikes me the right way.
My Take: I agree with my wife here. Their Carolina blue does look really good, especially around the collar of the black jersey. I just wish I never had to see Jimmy Clausen wearing it again.
12. St. Louis Rams
21 of 32Jersey Colors: White with navy blue numbers; navy blue with gold numbers; throwback (royal blue with yellow numbers)
My Wife's Take: Very solid color scheme and layout.
My Take: Yeah, I'm a fan of all the St. Louis Rams jerseys. I especially like the fact that they wore their throwback jersey when they retired Isaac Bruce's number. Very classy, St. Louis.
11. Tennessee Titans
22 of 32Jersey Colors: Navy blue with white numbers; light blue with white numbers; white with blue numbers
My Wife's Take: There are some very solid jerseys. The block-style numbers really do it for me.
My Take: Once again, I'm not sure why numbers really matter here, but I do agree that the Tennessee Titans have a solid jersey.
10. Oakland Raiders
23 of 32Jersey Colors: Black with silver numbers; white with black numbers
My Wife's Take: This reminds me of a high school football team's jersey. Can't the Oakland Raiders jazz it up a little bit?
My Take: The Oakland Raiders don't need to jazz up nothin'. These jerseys are bad, but in a good way.
9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
24 of 32Jersey Colors: Red with white numbers; white with red numbers; throwback (orange with white numbers)
My Wife's Take: Their red jerseys aren't too bad, but their throwback jersey makes them look like a gigantic pumpkin.
My Take: Love it. Absolutely love the Creamsicle jersey. Fans were asking for it, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers brought it back. I'm not big on their other jerseys, but this one is fantastic.
8. Indianapolis Colts
25 of 32Jersey Colors: Royal blue with white numbers; white with royal blue numbers
My Wife's Take: There is just something so crisp and clean about the Indianapolis Colts jerseys, and that really is appealing to me.
My Take: Of course my wife bases her favorite jersey on her favorite team. I do agree that these jerseys are crisp-looking, but is that really a compliment for a football team?
7. Philadelphia Eagles
26 of 32Jersey Colors: Midnight green with white numbers; black with white numbers; white with green numbers; Throwback (Kelly green with white numbers)
My Wife's Take: The throwback jersey makes Michael Vick look like a leprechaun, but I really like the darker jerseys with just a hint of midnight green.
My Take: I'm sorry, what are we talking about right now? I'm still picturing Michael Vick as a leprechaun. I can't believe my wife just said that. I love her. Seriously, what are we talking about?
6. San Diego Chargers
27 of 32Jersey Colors: White with navy blue numbers; powder blue with white numbers; navy blue with white numbers
My Wife's Take: The powder blue is a nice color, but it is a little too close to periwinkle for men to be wearing. However, the lightning bolt on the shoulder makes up for it.
My Take: Man, I always thought that periwinkle was just a made-up color. I like all three of the jerseys the San Diego Chargers wore last year.
5. Cleveland Browns
28 of 32Jersey Colors: Brown with white numbers; white with brown numbers
My Wife's Take: These are just too boring for me. I think they are trying to be old school, but it isn't working for me.
My Take: See, this is why my wife doesn't understand the greatness of the game of football. I mean seriously, the team is named the Browns. What more can they do here? They are doing the best they can with what they have to work with, and I applaud them for that.
4. Chicago Bears
29 of 32Jersey Colors: Navy blue with white numbers; white with navy blue numbers; orange with white numbers; throwback (navy blue with orange numbers)
My Wife's Take: I looked hard and long at these jerseys because I really wanted to find something to like about them. Unfortunately, orange is always a difficult color to work with, and the Chicago Bears really strike out with it.
My Take: I'm on the complete opposite side of the spectrum on this one. The Bears jersey is classic and simple. I could really do without the throwback, as it looks way worse than any of their 2010 jerseys.
3. Green Bay Packers
30 of 32Jersey Colors: Green with white numbers; white with green numbers; throwback (navy blue with yellow and blue numbers)
My Wife's Take: This is the best throwback that I have seen—very vintage. Unfortunately, the Green Bay Packers' green makes me think of every 1980s sofa ever made.
My Take: Okay, I'm officially sleeping on the couch tonight. The Packers jerseys are so classic, and this throwback was absolutely awesome last year.
2. Pittsburgh Steelers
31 of 32Jersey Colors: Black with white numbers; white with black numbers; throwback (black with yellow numbers)
My Wife's Take: The Pittsburgh Steelers' throwback jersey looks a little too pee wee football for me, but the other ones aren't too bad.
My Take: From the sharp-edged number font to the great color scheme of yellow and black, I'm a fan of these jerseys. I could do without the throwback, but even that is better than most other teams' jerseys.
1. New Orleans Saints
32 of 32Jersey Colors: Black with gold numbers; white with black numbers
My Wife's Take: I want to like these jerseys more than I do, but they remind me of the Purdue Boilermakers' jerseys, which I don't like at all.
My Take: Of course my wife is going to like something gold. To me, these are the finest jerseys in the NFL right now. Very slick. Well done, New Orleans.
