US Open Tennis 2011: Score and Recap of Kerber vs. Stosur Semifinal
The shocking semifinal of the 2011 US Open features No. 9 seed Samantha Stosur and Angelique Kerber.
The excitement around this match is well, nonexistent. Stosur is one of the best kept secrets in women's tennis and has reached the semifinals at Flushing Meadows for the third time.
Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki are the big draws this year, but either of them could fall at the hands of Stosur if she reaches the final.
Stosur dismantled the No. 2 ranked player in the world, Vera Zvonareva, in her quarterfinal match with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
On the other hand, Kerber has reached a Grand Slam semifinal for the first time in her career. The No. 92 ranked player in the world is in the midst of an absolute dream run that she hopes will end with a US Open title.
The 23-year-old knocked off Flavia Pennetta 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in a stunning quarterfinal match that went under the radar. It would be a shocking upset if Kerber could advance to the US Open final, and she is sure to lay it all on the line.
Will it be enough to take down Stosur, though? That is tough to say, but anything can happen in the game of tennis, and that is the beauty of it.

The Stosur vs. Kerber match managed to transpire in spite of the shuffling they had to do to incorporate work around the rain. The less highly touted of the two women's semifinals matches sent Stosur to the semifinals, where she will square off against the winner of the Serena Williams vs. Caroline Wozniacki semifinal.
Stosur may not be the household name that Wozniacki or Williams is, but this isn't her first time on a stage of this magnitude.
She made it all the way to the finals at the French Open last year, which has undoubtedly prepared her for what she has faced thus far on her journey back to a grand slam final.
Her 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 semifinals put her one win away from getting over the hump and taking her first ever grand slam.
Keep it tuned to Bleacher Report as we will have live scoring and recap below during and following the match.
