Week 12 Start/Sit

Hot Stove New YorkNov 20, 2008

Quarterbacks

Start

Kyle Orton (Bears) vs. Rams- Orton returned last week after missing one game due to an ankle injury. He has a favorable matchup against a Rams defensive unit that has not recorded an interception in straight games and is ranked 24th in passing yards allowed (244 yards per game). They also have allowed a league high 317 points.

Tyler Thigpen (Chiefs) vs. Bills- Thigpen has thrown eight TD passes to just one interception over his past four games. He also has 174 rush yards which is the fourth highest amount for a QB. The Bills have not had a multiple sack game in seven weeks and have just five interceptions on the season.

Honorable mention: Matt Casell (Pats) vs. Dolphins

Sit

David Garrard (Jags) vs. Vikings- Garrard has struggled this season throwing eight touchdowns in ten games. Last week was the first time this season Garrard failed to throw over 200 yards. If defensive tackles Kevin and Pat Williams miss this week’s game look for the Jags to rely heavily on running backs Maurice Jones Drew and Fred Taylor.

Matt Hasslebeck (Seahawks) vs. Redskins- Hasslebeck returned last week after missing five games with an injury. He threw for just 170 yards and was picked off three times. It looks safe to bench him till Week 15 when he faces the Rams. The Redskins only allow 190 yards a game through the air.

Honorable mention: Chad Pennington (Dolphins) vs. Pats

Runningbacks

Start

Peyton Hillis (Broncos) vs. Raiders- Hillis rushed for two touchdowns last week in his first career start against the Falcons. He finished with 70 total yards and averaged 4.4 yards per rush. The rookie faces a Raiders rush defense that is 30th in yards allowed.

Warrick Dunn (Bucs) vs. Lions- Starting RB Ernest Graham is unlikely to play the rest of the season after suffering an ankle injury last week. Dunn is averaging 4.4 yards per rush and should shred the Lions defense that allowed 264 rushing yards to the Panthers last week.

Honorable mention: Jonathan Stewart (Panthers) vs. Falcons

Bench

Lendale White (Titans) vs. Jets- Lendale has rushed for 14 or fewer yards in four of his past seven games. He is tied for the league lead in rush TDs but faces a stout Jets rush defense that is ranked fourth in the league

Tim Hightower (Cardinals) vs. Giants- Hightower has rushed for just 57 yards in his past two games against the Seahawks and 49ers. The Giants defense has allowed the fewest fantasy points to runningbacks this season.

Honorable mention: Willis McGahee (Ravens) vs. Eagles

Wide Receivers

Start

Justin Gage (Titans) vs. Jets- Gage was a hot waiver wire addition after his 147 yard and two TD game against the Jags last week. He has eight catches and three touchdowns over his past two games. If the Jets shut down the run look for QB Kerry Collins to target the 6’4” receiver.

Mark Bradley (Chiefs) vs. Bills- Bradley has 22 catches over his last four games with two touchdowns. He led the team in receiving yards last week and is forming a good rapport with QB Tyler Thigpen. He has reached the 50-yard receiving mark in his past three games.

Honorable mention: Kevin Walter (Texans) vs. Browns

Bench

Greg Camarillo (Dolphins) vs. Pats- Since catching 11 passes for 111 yards in Week 9 he has just six catches for 55 yards in two games since then. With the running game being more of a factor and WR Ted Ginn evolving Camarillo has been somewhat phased out.

Bernard Berrian (Vikings) vs. Jags- Berrian has just five catches in his past three games with opposing defenses concentrating on stopping him.

Honorable mention: Isaac Bruce (49ers) vs. Cowboys

Tight End

Start

Donald Lee (Pacers) vs. Saints- Lee has three TDs his past six games and caught a season high six passes last week. The Saints are 26th in the league in passing yards allowed.

Honorable mention: Dustin Keller (Jets) vs. Titans

Bench

Todd Heap (Ravens) vs. Eagles- Heap had just 16 yards receiving last week and has not been a consistent target in the offense all season.

Honorable mention: Owen Daniels (Texans) vs. Browns

Start

Kicker

Mason Crosby (Packers) vs. Saints- Crosby has 54 points over his past five games scoring at least nine points in each of them. He has converted 12-of 14 field goals during that span and scored a season high 13 points against the Bears last week.

Honorable mention: Matt Prater (Broncos) vs. Panthers

Sit

Josh Scobee (Jags) vs. Vikings- Scobee has just six field goal attempts in his past four games. The Jags kicker has not scored over double digits in seven weeks. He did not kick a field goal last week and scored a season low two points.

Honorable mention: Matt Stover (Ravens) vs. Eagles

Defense

Start

Cowboys vs. 49ers- The Cowboys sacked Redskins QB Jason Campbell three times last week and picked him off once. Matt Hasslebeck returned from a five game absence last week and could show some rust again.

Honroable mention: Broncos vs. Raiders

Sit

Dolphins vs. Pats- The Pats look to avenge their Week 3 loss to the Dolphins. QB Matt Cassel threw for 400 yards and rushed for another 60 against the Jets last week. RB Sammy Morris returned from injury last week and WR Randy Moss+ Wes Welker should have big games.

Honorable mention: Packers vs. Saints
