NFL Picks Against the Spread Week 1: 3 Games That Will Blow Away Point Spread

Gabe ZaldivarSep 9, 2011

It's time for you degenerates to get out those hard-earned dollars and place a wager on a sure thing. The following NFL games will go to the favorites, no matter what the current spread may be.

It is time to get comfortable as the line sneaks closer. The best bets you could have had were earlier in the week when the spreads were humongous.

Now, those favorites are a much tastier pick. These games may look like tough decisions based on the points that are spotted, but we know better.

By Friday, you are going to want to forget that spread and take the favorite. The points are not nearly enough to scare you. Here are those games that blow away the spread.

We are using the spreads set at Bodog.eu.

1. Bengals at Browns: Take Browns -7

That's right. You give the Bengals a touchdown. Give them a field goal while your at it. Aside from Cedric Benson, the Bengals are a mess on offense.

The Browns will employ a greedy Peyton Hillis on the ground. He will be complemented by a maturing phenom in Colt McCoy. Save one bad start, McCoy looked star like in the preseason.

2. Giants at Redskins: Take Giants -3

The preseason doldrums of the Giants will wash away in short order. This team still has weapons on offense to score on the likes of the Washington Redskins.

Mario Manningham has emerged as a viable threat out wide and Eli Manning is focused and determined.

I also have no faith in Rex Grossman to mount consistent drives, nor do I have confidence in John Beck is he wrestles the job away mid-game.

3. Panthers as Cardinals: Take Cardinals -7

Cam Newton looked flummoxed by first-team defenses in the preseason. He will get his first real taste of the NFL against an underrated defense.

Darnell Dockett will have Newton on the run, and not in a good way. I can't see Newton mounting a successful drive in his opening game.

The Cardinals have a fresh new quarterback, Kevin Kolb, and the best receiver in the business, Larry Fitzgerald. This game will far surpass one touchdown.
