2011 Fantasy Football Strategy: Ray Edwards Ready to Go Week 1
Ray Edwards Ready To Roll Week 1
The Falcons brought in Ray Edwards because the team wanted to improve on their pass rush and playing opposite John Abraham, Edwards still has a respectable defensive end on the other side, as was the case in his time with the Vikings. However, after Edwards signed with the team he still needed to rehab a knee injury that cost him the first three preseason games and I was curious how he was looking, in practice, heading into Week 1.
For further clarification on Edwards' health I contacted Falcons beat writer D. Orlando Ledbetter after he wrote a nice article about Brent Grimes and the defense this week. I asked Ledbetter if he thought Edwards was ready to play a full complement of snaps this week, and he responded by saying Edwards looks ready to go.

Colts Release Kenny Moore

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
This is important for IDP fantasy owners of Edwards and those standard league owners with the Falcons defense because Atlanta will be facing off against the Bears' shaky offensive line. Edwards has a sack in three of the past four games he's played against the Bears, and is likely to find another one this week. Look to Edwards as a rock solid DL-2 play this week as he's ready for action and should make an impact in his game.

Beason Expected To Start Sunday
According to Panthers beat writer Joseph Person, middle linebacker Jon Beason (Achilles) is expected to go against the Cardinals.
Fantasy Impact - I'll be interested to see if the Panthers rotate Beason out in sub package situations to give him extra rest, but if he's expected to be a go, it's hard to put him on our bench in IDP leagues. We won't know if Beason will be an official go until the afternoon as the Panthers play a late game in Arizona.

Cowboys Lose Tackle Tyron Smith
Not only did the Cowboys lose tackle Tyron Smith for a few weeks but they also lost backup Sam Young in practice.
Fantasy Impact - Jerry Jones can talk all he wants about the team's depth of "flexible" offensive lineman but I'm growing with concern for the health of Tony Romo and the effectiveness of the Cowboys offense, Week 1. With the offensive line down a few players at the tackle position, and Miles Austin trying to return from a hammy, it's best to keep Romo on the bench against the Jets.
