The Game Vs. The Moscow Mauler

This Sunday at Survivor Series Triple H, the WWE champion will meet Vladimir Kozlov, the undefeated new superstar of Smackdown. Kozlov arrived on the scene of the WWE over a year ago appearing in the crowd saying he can't wait to join the WWE. Now that he's here he's made an extreme impact on the business.

He brings to it a seriousness, a quiet rage that makes it difficult to know if this is his character or if the man himself truly looks at the WWE as a venue to showcase his wrestling skill.

His power moves, his head butts, and suplexes dominate the ring and lay waste to any who have approached him. His mic skills are there, but they're in Russian, I'm sure those on the other side of the Iron curtain get chills up their spine when they hear him speak, but the rest of us just hear the that thick Russian dialect.

Kozlov keeps that look on his face of constant annoyance, its hard to think that he could ever be a "face" wrestler, he will most likely be a heel for his entire career.

Triple H on the other hand has mastered the ability to flip back and forth between heel, face, and even anti-hero, the bad guy that everyone still cheers for. He's been the leather jacket jean vest HHH, the corporate HHH in his suits, DX HHH, and now recently its a combo of leather jacket HHH and DX HHH.

He's cracking jokes, working the crowd and at times even breaking the fourth wall and talks to the camera to reveal the secrets of the WWE. But when it comes time for business, when he steps through those ropes and spits that water the game has begun and HHH has arrived (he turns it on... like a truck, obscure movie reference at no charge).

When these two meet in the ring it is bound to be an interesting match. Will it be a back and forth match of power moves or will we be forced to a slow match with a series of headlocks. Is this the match on the PPV that has everyone waiting to see the outcome, or is this the one that you don't care if you miss?

That will all depend on HHH, if he's in good condition and is ready to crank out a great match it will be there. But if he looks at Kozlov as a rookie and the match isn't something he doesn't even WANT to do it could just be a time filler for him. He'll control the pace, he'll determine if this is a sleeper or if this is a hit. He's got nothing to loose, he's the Game with or without the title.

Kozlov has everything to loose, even though he's undefeated up until this point if he puts out a poor showing at his first main event on a PPV he can find himself back to wrestling Funaki on Heat. He has shown he can hold his own against The Undertaker and isn't a one trick pony with two or three moves. But can he go the distance? HHH can go iron man matches, Kozlov matches have been quick and to the point.

Now we throw in the wild card, Jeff Hardy what part will he play in this. At the time of this article was written Friday Night Smackdown has not aired and we don't know if this will be a Triple Threat match or not. I'm betting it will be, to give Hardy this big push, to drive his character as a main focal point on the show only to not even have him have a match at the PPV seems like a big waste of time.

This Pay Per View should be an interesting one when it comes to the big titles. Jericho vs. the returning John Cena and HHH vs. the undefeated Kozlov. Which main event will steal the show and be the true main event. Who will walk away champion, and who will just walk away. Who will survive Survivor Series!
