NFL Picks Week 1: 3 Teams Destined To Lose Their Home Opener
There is no worse feeling than losing your home opener in the NFL.
All of your fans are their eagerly cheering you on as a new year and new season gets underway. There is hope in the air, and optimism is practically falling from the stands.
The home opener is one of the best events in football. That is, until you lose it.
Your fans go home disappointed, your team is dejected, and the fear of a long, loss filled season begins.
There is nothing worse than losing the home opener.
Here are three teams that are destined to fail at home this weekend.
Jacksonville Jaguars
1 of 3Why the Jaguars let veteran quarterback David Garrard go, I will never understand. Sure, it helped them from a financial standpoint, but as far as on the field they are doomed.
The Tennessee Titans are coming into town, and they apparently understand the value of a veteran quarterback. Matt Hasselbeck and Chris Johnson are going to throw and run all over the Jaguars in their home opener.
New starter Luke McCown doesn’t stand a chance.
Arizona Cardinals
2 of 3I think that Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers will roll into the desert and come away with an upset.
For some reason, I just see the Cardinals underestimating the Panthers, and buying into their own hype at home. With Kevin Kolb under center the Cardinals will certainly be a lot better, but I think that confidence will come back to bite them in Week 1.
San Francisco 49ers
3 of 3The Jim Harbaugh era will not get off to a great start against the Seattle Seahawks.
No matter what Harbaugh thinks, I just can’t get behind Alex Smith as a legitimate quarterback on the NFL. While some would say the Seahawks' Tarvaris Jackson isn’t much better, I still like the pieces Seattle has around him far better than I like the 49ers as a whole this year.
