Rammer Jammer Goes To Happy Valley & Other Things: Week 2 Burning Questions
Alex FergusonSep 7, 2011
There are some delicious match-ups on Week 2 of the college football season. If you're a Penn State fan, you are waiting for the arrival of Alabama with bated breath. After all, things weren't great at Alabama in 2010 for the Nittany Lions.
But there are other great games, kids.
Here are some burning questions about this week's fascinating match-ups. Give us some answers with your replies!
Thursday
Arizona at Oklahoma State
Can double coverage on Oklahoma State wide receiving star Justin Blackmon stop OSU's offense? We're saying no. Oklahoma State wins by 14.
Utah at USC
Can Utah spring a surprise at the vaunted USC, who struggled in their home opener against Minnesota? And will Utah be able to stop Robert Woods, one of the best wide receivers in the game? USC squeaks by, winning by 3.
Friday
Missouri at Arizona State
Is this Arizona State side really for real? And is Missouri's vaunted defence up there with the gods, too? We'll go with Arizona State today. Watch out for not only their unis, but also linebacker Vontaze Burfict. He eats quarterbacks for breakfast.
Saturday
Alabama at Penn State
Will the dual-quarterback decision on both sides backfire? Will the Nittany Lions - a 10 point underdog - be able to stop Trent Richardson? Alabama will win this one, but it'll be closer than people expect.
Notre Dame at Michigan
Will Notre Dame's new QB Tommy Rees lead the Irish to triumph over a Michigan defense that's suddenly looks a little bit happier? And could Denard Robinson continue the Heisman noise? Brian Kelly left wondering what happened. Michigan win on a last-second drive....again!
South Carolina at Georgia
Will Georgia pull off the big performance that they need for themselves and for coach Mark Richt in this deadly SEC rivalry? Georgia come out and get the victory. By 3.
Oregon State at Wisconsin
Can Wisconsin's defence improve? Will Oregon State have anything for Russell Wilson and his explosive offense? We don't think Oregon State will be able to keep with the Badgers, and sink to 0-2.
BYU at Texas
Texas wasn't great against Rice last week, while BYU wasn't great in SEC country, squeaking by Ole Miss. Can either teams improve to make this game watchable? The Mormons pull off the victory - and there's more burnt orange anger. BYU by 10.
Mississippi State at Auburn
Can Auburn be any worse than they were against Utah State? We think they'll be better, but Mississippi State will prove too strong, and win by 10.
Virginia Tech at East Carolina
Will VT survive a potential on-the-road banana skin to the upset-minded Bucs? Yes, but just. VT by 5
