Evelyn Lozada: Why Quitting VH-1 and Basketball Wives Is Career Suicide

Drama, drama, drama.

If there was one word to describe VH-1’s Basketball Wives, that is it.

Now the lead drama-maker looks to have reached her boiling point.

TMZ is reporting that Evelyn Lozada, fianceé of New England Patriots receiver Chad Ochocinco, will not be coming back to Season 4 of the hit show:

"Sources close to Evelyn tell TMZ—Lozada made up her mind yesterday, after VH1 posted a blog implying Evelyn may have cheated on Chad Ochocinco with his former teammate Terrell Owens.

"We're told Evelyn is furious—claiming the rumor is simply UNTRUE—and she feels betrayed by the network. VH1 has since pulled the blog—but Lozada has already decided enough is enough ... and she's told producers she won't be returning.

"

Sounds like an episode of the show.

Evelyn has always been at the center of drama and letting one rumor destroy the highly successful show is idiotic (we’ll assume it’s not true, because of all the people to cheat on Chad with, T.O. would be the dumbest choice she could make).

After making somewhere in the neighborhood of $7,500 per episode for the first three seasons, Evelyn was demanding $20,000 a show for season four. With the sky-high popularity of it, I’m sure VH-1 would have caved, much like MTV had to give in with the Jersey Shore cast.

That’s some serious dough to leave on the table. More importantly, she will be losing her place in the spotlight.

With her fianceé currently getting brainwashed into a normal person in New England, her TV hours are going to be few and far between. The media whoring days of Ocho are over.

If she quits now, it won’t take longer than a few months for people to utter the dreaded phrase: “what happened to Evelyn?”

Lozada claims she wants to focus on her wedding, but we all know that is crap. These women are absolutely thrilled to be in front of the camera with such a big audience following them around as they step out of the shadow of their famous husbands.

Giving it all up over a stupid rumor that has no legs is insane. This is the same girl that created an entire T-shirt line based off her “catch phrase” in season two. She knows the financial side of this and quitting the show is a career-killer.

What other talents does she have? Can she sing? Dance? Act?

I have no clue, but from watching the show I’d peg her as a great vodka drinker. Is there a show for that?

Basketball Wives is her thing and attempting to branch out into some sort of spinoff is going to fail terribly. She’s better off forcing VH-1 into a ridiculous $20,000 an episode and playing the sassy mean girl that makes her so appealing in the first place.

If not, you won’t be seeing the words “Evelyn Lozada” and “relevant” in the same sentence again.
