Clay Guida vs. Ben Henderson: 4 Reasons This Needs to Be Televised on Fox

Jeffrey McKinneyJun 7, 2018

Clay Guida and Ben Henderson are two of the most exciting fighters in the UFC's lightweight division.

Although Guida and Henderson are well known by MMA fans, they aren't known by a wider mainstream audience like Brock Lesnar is.

Having these two featured on the main card of UFC on Fox alongside Cain Velasquez vs. Junior dos Santos will do wonders for the UFC.

Here are the reasons why this fight has to be on.

We need more than just one fight

When the Cain Velasquez-vs.-Junior dos Santos bout was announced as the main event at UFC on Fox, it was done so as the only fight.

Originally it was rumored that the card was going to feature two bouts on free television.

While MMA fans are happy they will get to see one of the biggest bouts in UFC history on free TV, we have to see more than just one.

It Gives Guida and Henderson a chance to be seen on a national spotlight

Both Guida and Henderson are two guys who could go a full 10 rounds in a fight if they had to.

Both men fight at a crazy pace, both are very scrappy and both can pull off the Wildman look if they needed to.

Even though this is not the normal UFC fight card, Guida and Henderson need to be seen by the public live and not buried in the prelims.

It has title implications

Ben Henderson is the former WEC Lightweight Champion. Henderson was well on his way to fighting for the UFC title belt until he ran into Anthony Pettis.

Since then, Henderson has won both of his UFC fights including a win over a man who would have been next in line, Jim Miller.

Guida is on a four-fight win streak and holds a victory over the man to last beat Henderson.

The winner of this match should indeed get a title shot against the winner of Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard.

It could last longer than Velasquez vs. Dos Santos

Any MMA fight can go the distance or end in less than 10 seconds.

Velasquez and dos Santos have a history of ending their fights by knockout. Although they will have five rounds to battle it out, it could end early in the first.

Guida and Henderson both have impressive wins by submission and KO, but they are known as two guys who can go the distance.

While a quick finish would be exciting in the championship bout, a war that goes a few rounds could be even more memorable.

That's something Guida and Henderson can provide.
