Fantasy Football Waiver Wire 2011: 10 Available Players Who Can Help in Week 1

Each week, there are a few players that have favorable matchups and can help you win your game that are just sitting on the waiver wire.  Finding these guys can be an important part of winning your league and can really help if you are stuck in a spot where multiple players on your roster have the same by week.  Here are the top 10 players who can help you in Week 1.

Houston Texans RB Derrick Ward

Arian Foster is obviously the man in Houston, but there are a lot of questions surrounding his health this week.  Ward is a really good pick-up against an Indianapolis defense that won't be good against the run.

Arizona Cardinals D/ST

If you didn't get one of the top five defenses, you are probably looking to play the matchups every week.  A safe bet week-in and week-out is going to be picking up whichever defense is going against Cam Newton.  This week it happens to be the Arizona Cardinals.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Deji Karim

Rashad Jennings is lost for the year, and Maurice Jones-Drew was hurt a lot last year.  Karim could see some carries in Week 1 against a Titans defense that wasn't good against the run last year.  MJD might need a breather with temperatures pushing close to 90 in Jacksonville on Sunday.

Tennessee Titans RB Javon Ringer

I know Chris Johnson is back, but he won't get more than 15 touches in this game.  Ringer will get a significant share of the load* against a Jacksonville defense that will give up some yards.

*Assuming Ringer is healthy enough to play.  If not, give Jamie Harper a serious look.

Indianapolis Colts QB Kerry Collins

If you drafted Peyton Manning as your guy, you will want to give Collins a look this week and this week only.  He could put up some good numbers against the Texans defense.

Houston Texans WR Jacoby Jones

Jones is a good play this week, lining up opposite Andre Johnson and against the Indianapolis Colts secondary.

Buffalo Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

Fitzpatrick is another guy that could be a fill-in for you this week if Peyton Manning is your quarterback.

Cleveland Browns D/ST

Playing any defense matching up against the Bengals is going to be a good idea this year.  This week that defense is the Cleveland Browns.

St. Louis Rams TE Lance Kendricks

The Rams added Kendricks in the second round of the draft, and he is sure to be a favorite target of Sam Bradford. 

Arizona Cardinals WR Andre Roberts

Roberts is going to have a big year.  He is the clear No. 2 in Arizona, and he is facing a Panthers defense this week that isn't very good.
